Terra Nova

I just watched the first episode and I was pleasantly surprised.

Compelling characters, excellent writing, great ensemble cast and very impressive art direction. After a few recent disappointing sci fi shows over the past year or two, my expectations were quite low. I especially enjoyed the production designer's vision of a 22nd century metropolis and the night time scenes that recaptured the feeling of those adrenaline-filled raptor moments from Jurassic Park. The mysterious clues about another civilization were also interesting.

Has anyone else seen this show? What did you think?

I watched the premiere last night, and I quite enjoyed it. I didn't know much about it before hand, but it seems like a show I'd continue watching. I wish they had shown a bit more of the future setting though, as well as the
Spoiler
prison escape scene, that was very disappointing

The youtube trailer looks like Jurassic Park+Avatar+Lost, but the first impression I got from reading the topic title was Nova Terra from Starcraft :P

The main characters were really stereotypical. I hope they get diversified a little bit. Funny how the most compelling characters aren't from the family.

I watched because someone else insisted so they'd have somebody to talk about it with. I was glad that it wasn't Jurassic Park The Series, but...urgh, dumb teenagers and their dumb teenage drama make my insides hurt.

Considering all the new sci fi shows launched over the past couple years that turned out to disappoint (Flash Forward, Falling Skies, No Ordinary Family, The Cape), I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I suppose my expectations were quite low.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'll get to it sometime just to formulate my own opinion based on watching it myself, but everyone I've talked to said it was mediocre at best.

Though I must say, I truly hope this show and everything else FOX tries to put out falls flat on it's face. /Browncoat
