Terrible Lag, Terrible FPS

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 10:25 pm

I'm running a stock clocked i7 920 @2.67, a HD 5870 1GB, and 8GB of DDR3 @ 1033.

My FPS is Terrible in this game. I turned off motion blur and reduced textures and shadows to medium, I get stuttering and serious slowdown at all times. When running around, when encountering other players, sever FPS drop.

My lag is completely out of hand. I have a habit of only joining servers with pings below 70, and that's what I've been doing. I lag to the extreme. Most of the time it's just sloppy lag every 4-5 seconds, tossing me around and throwing my aim all over the place. Every minute or so I'm frozen in place, teleporting around and unable to do anything and being shot to hell by enemies.

I am severely disappointed so far. This game runs like a clunky piece of sh*t. Alt+tabbing results in serious freezing and it feels very sluggish, this is a PC game yes? The server browser operates at about 3 FPS, it's very uncomfortable to use. It's just a nightmare.

Please fix this game.

Just updated video drivers. The game is still unplayable. For all the "Freedom of movement" stuff I read and heard about, the movement in this game as of now is absolutely painful. I'll check back in a week, otherwise I'll be requesting a refund due to unplayability.

I have almost the exact same PC as you, only my CPU is an i7 860 rather than 920. And guess what? Same problems. My 5870 can't even handle this game with everything completely turned down and disabled. It's unacceptable that my frame rates typically plummet below 30 in such cramped, low-resolution environments yet I can play Bad Company 2 with buildings collapsing and everything exploding at a constant 50-70+ FPS. What gives? I've tried everything: Rolling back drivers, downloading the laughable 11.5a "hotfix" drivers, and even fiddling with every in-game setting. Whether I have everything maxed or as low as it can go, my performance is in the dumps. I don't know if Splash Damage or ATI is at fault, but here's the bottom line: I'm incredibly pissed.

I cancelled mine when I found there were no pre-release reviews, never a good sign. Looks like I did the right thing.

This is a known issue with all ATI users.... this is not the fault or Bethesda or Splash Damage.... give it a day or two max and ATI will release new up to date drivers.... don't be so quick to cancel/demand refunds.

I don't plan on trying to get my money back. I really would like to play this game, so I will wait for the drivers.
But I'm still sad to the ground :sadvaultboy:

one of my PCs is a i7 920 running at 3.6 watercooled. but running a SLI GTX 460 setup.. having nothing like you describe at all.
game is super smooth and fast.
all modes.
getting over 60fps consistent even while running apps behind steam.

I think this must a a failATI issue.

Some nVidia users were experiencing the lag with single player.

This is highly disappointing, the last time I experienced something like this was with SiN's initial release, and it effectively killed the game (along with Half Life)

2 different Nvidia setups here.. SLI 460s and a single 580 both work flawlessly.. both intel i7 systems though both overclocked and watercooled as well.
