Thalmor Hit Squad?

Post » Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:23 pm

So yeah I was just walking around, minding my own business, and this group of Thalmor just decided to attack me for no reason.

Up until now I had no idea that the Thamor could send people after you. I've been attacked by the Dark Brotherhood, bounty hunters, etc. But this is the first time that the Thalmor has ever come after me.

The crazy thing is I never did anything to them.

There are theories as to whether or not the Thalmor hit squads are random or triggered by something, some people feel they may be triggered by making a certain choice in one of the Whiterun side quests that results in getting on their bad side. Some people say they get attacked by them before ever touching that quest, so who knows.

But yeah, the Thalmor are basically IN Skyrim to go after people, it's what they do. Officially they are only supposed to be rounding up Talos worshippers, but do you really think they're gonna draw the line there? :P

They'll only get sent after you when you either teabag the thalmor embassy or raid their prison above solitude to rescue that stormcloak guy.

Nope, I've been attacked by them long before doing any of that. If it's not random then there's something else that sets them off.

That's not the point. The point is he hadn't done anything. The game should know that.

The same thing happened to me. I had only been to Falkreath and Riften, I hadn't touched any Thalmore quests and I got a hit squad after me. Ok you could theorise that they'd noticed that you were a person of power on the rise so they just wanted you out of the way to be on the safe side, but the letter seems to state the player had done something specific to Thalmore interests to piss them off. Its not really good enough.

Just one of the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:World_Interactions that can occur to walking-lovers in Skyrim.

They are just another Random Encounter, I used to think they were triggered until my Markarth based character was killed by them. Cowards waited until after a battle with an Atronach to show up :stare:
EDIT Round two was a feast in honor of Namira :liplick:

Nah. Never did that quest.

I've never done these quests as well. Haven't even started the MQ or talked to the Graymanes yet.

They are just another Random Encounter,

Ah that makes sense. Btw I like your avatar. The character in it looks like Lara Croft.

Another possibility is killing Anise. They don't show up randomly, you do have to do something.

I keep trying to make them as angry at me as possible, and I never get any hit squads. Can I have your hit squads?

You can have all my Hit Squads. They're getting a bit too ornery for my liking.

Nope, it's just a random event that can occur to anybody, regardless how one roleplays.

Hmm, I've never encountered the hit squads unless I provoked them in the first place. 's weird though.

World interactions occur only to players who walk A LOT, not to those who always fast travel or ride a horse.

Since the PC version has such a crappy interface, I usually walk now. I fast traveled more on the PS3 version. Guess a crappy interface did something good.

You can't believe how many things happened to me when I decided only to walk. However, even if the majority of space is taken by hungry wolves, it's always a pretty nice amount of interesting stuff, and usually takes me to some decent loot.

That's not the point. The point is he hadn't done anything. The game should know that.

He said he had no idea that the Thalmor would send people after you, that's what the bit you quoted was a response to. Yes, the Thalmor do send out squads and patrols to "deal with" anyone they don't like.

Whether or not the player is one of those people for a known reason or it just happens randomly, I don't know. I don't think I've ever been attacked by them without having given them a reason. Some people believe they have been attacked for no known reason at all. Either, way, the squads do exist.

but the letter seems to state the player had done something specific to Thalmore interests to piss them off. Its not really good enough.

Yeah, when you don't know of anything you've done to get their attention, it kinda leaves you scratching your head.

I'm starting to wonder if it's possible that visiting a Talos shrine and (perhaps) leaving an offering there has anything to do with it. We do know that they stake out shrines to spy on and accost worshippers. But that's probably a long shot.

Actually I never did anything to them, nor was I planning to. This was actually the first time I saw a Thalmor in this playthrough. Not counting the Adviser in the Mages College.

I usually never fast travel, unless I have to bounce back and forth for certain quests that take me from one side of the map to the other. Even then, most of what I encounter is wild animals, DB assassins or the occasional thief on the roads. The thalmor hitsquad hasn't ever showed up in any of my playthroughs until after doing something to them first, and it's usually just a single encounter.
