Thalmor RP - possible?

Post » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:31 am

Everyone hates the Thalmor. Hell, it's the only faction you're not allowed to side with in the game. But through mods and such, is it possible to RP a Thalmor?
I ask because I'd like to play a Thalmor Justciar, hunting down those who worship Talos - the whole idea just appeals to me.

Also, before the "omg how can u like da thalmurr!?" I'd just like a change of scenery, and a regular Altmer spellsword just doesn't cut it.

I don't know of any mods that let you play as them, but their not the only faction you can't join. (Silver-Hands mate)

I know some people who play as Thalmor sympathizers, just takes some imagination.

Possible indeed. I know that quite some people have a Thalmor character. About mods, I'm pretty sure there are some, but I'll have to check.

Oh dang, forgot about those.
Well, one of the few factions that you're automatically hostile with, including the Hand.

Imagination has it's limits, however.

Yep. The main difficulty is that you have to do it all in your head since the game mechanics won't recognize what you're doing. If you can pull it off without mods, power to ya.

I might give it a go at some point, actually.
But more probable will be a Breton spellsword in service of the Empire; until some Thalmor areas, a fort or something, is added into the game.

Completely and utterly possible. Even without mods (although mods make it better for sure).

Everyone hates the Thalmor.

Speak for yourself mate.

I'm actually doing that right now, no mods or anything. I'm ignoring the main quest, and I put on the first Thalmor robes I could find. At the moment, I'm mainly just making a bit of money to buy better equipment and maybe a home, but eventually, my goal is to serve the Aldmeri Dominion by causing as much instability and chaos in Skyrim as possible. This mainly reflects itself in choosing which quests I do: I'll complete the Forsworn Conspiracy (SPOOOOOOOOILER) so that some Forsworn key figures will be able to take the fight to the Nords and create a third source of conflict for Skyrim to deal with. And of course complete the Dark Brotherhood questline. True, most of this RP is in my mind, but this has always been the case for my in Elder Scrolls titles (and other games), and it doesn't bother me at all.

To be clear, I absolutely dispise the Thalmor and I kill them every chance I get with my main character, but it's just very fun to play the villain once in a while.
