Thane of Morthol

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 11:18 pm

I have given up trying to be a Thane at Morthol. I have done 2 out of 3 things for the citizens. I took the note to Whiterun and have killed a couple of dragons for the Thane's bed mate. Any suggestions from those that have become the Thane of Morthol?

The alchemist has a quest, and also sometimes investing in shops will count.

Its the big issue. This plus following Falion to see what he gets up to at night and some woodchopping was enough to get me made Thane of Morthal. Be prepared though. It can be a pretty tough quest depending on your character

Yes. I won't spoil it, but bring all kinds of buff potions with you...all kinds.

I had a terrible time with that quest because the guards kept interfering.

How did they interfere? o.0 You mean when you have to enter her home to get the diary? o.0 (dark night and sneak, no problems lol)

You'd be surprised at what counts as "help" in these quests.
I "helped" a person by beating him half to death in a brawl, somehow. (For Dawnstar.)

Little stuff like collecting cabbages and giving them to a farmer are easy, useful things. (I realise not applicable to Morthal, but it took me forever to figure this out to become the Thane of Falkreath.)

It's quite easy to become Thane Of Morthal. If it does'nt freak out.

Do the burned house quest, Lami the alchemists quest, if it appears and give Idgrod the Youngers note to Danica in whiterun. But it is a bit buggy with Lami, not alwyas there.

I killed Morvath and his friends and took the note. I don't know how many times I stopped by the alchemist and did not pick up any chores. I guess I should start following people at night or buff up my speechcraft perks if I really want this Thane postion. Becoming Thane of Winterhold was much, much easier.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Hate that burned down house quest. I wanted to join Alva, overthrow Movarth, become Thane with a new wife. But noo, we had to join the cattle, didn't we?

I actually assumed they'd fix up that house for me if I helped out. Imagine the concept!
Kinda like Winterhold. Let's keep all the crappy, busted houses and not fix jack.

The guards actually helped me because I checked out the house before I saw the 'other thing'. When I entered the house the [censored] attacked me and the guard that followed me for trespassing killed the [censored] and I slipped down to the basemant and then back out and completed the quest properly.

"Hey, the Dragonborn's coming should we clean the place up?"

Pretty sure that beating up on Benor counts as a help quest. He also thinks you're his best friend for it.

They kept trying to arrest me for trespassing. I'm a warrior rather than a thief. Also the you-know-what's significant other kept trying to kill me as well. There was no dialog option to tell the guards what I was looking for. It took ages to pick the lock without the guards seeing and then do my thing without anyone else interfering. Very annoying.

Do the burnt out house quest, deliver the letter and then fight the tough guy in town. The last one evaded me for a while. Then I did it out of frustration, and *boom*- Thane.

I like it when I get the Jarl up at 3 am to see if I can be thane; he tells me to help his people, then bam I already have the "I helped your people" option right after.
Now gimme that crappy thane weapon and go back to bed, ya crazy old man!
