Thane of Winterhold : V

So, uh, what benefits do I get for being the Thane of this destroyed hold?

I myself love winterhold and adore the amazing college to the north of the "city", but like evry over thane title, you may only get a title and be able to avoid certain crimes by telling the guards you're a Thane.

You get a new weapon, and the approval of the people of Winterhold ... well what few of them are left after repeated dragon attacks and the college almost blowing up again. You might want to do the thane of Winterhold quest early before all the questgivers die on you.

You can tell the guards to sod off if you get a bounty.

I have yet to have a dragon attack Winterhold. In fact the only two cities a dragon has attacked are Solitude and Riften.

They do attack there. I've had several in the town, lots of them up at the college.

A worthless sword and a pat on the back. Being a thane should have meant a lot more. how about 5% discount on merchants from that hold or guard greetings acknowledging your awesomeness.

The biggest bug in the game is that Guards don't recognise you're a Thane as a passing comment. They all deserve to be reminded of who you are even in a badass way.

A little FUSsss-rohdah to the face helps them remember whos boss. But then you use your one time get out of jail im a thane card.

The biggest bug in the game is that Guards don't recognise you're a Thane as a passing comment. They all deserve to be reminded of who you are even in a badass way.

It's not a bug, it's an oversight. Bethesda never made the dialog for it. They need to, though- it's kind of absurd that guards recognize me as DB or Thief (which is supposed to be a secret, thanks for blabbing it all around), but never give me a simple "Hail, Thane!".

It because their pay is so low, it drives them to be corrupt. One guard came up to me one day in Solitude and says " Solitude can be a flexible place to live, provided that you have the money". And I just pickpocket him out of all his arrows.
