Thanksgiving and still no patch?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:57 pm

So less than a week after I got New Vegas on the day of release I got the stupid DLC glitch garbage. Spent many hours searching this forum for answers and of course got none. Instead of being pissed that I spent $65 on a plastic coaster I just moved on to other games. The games I've played since New Vegas died include, Red Dead Undead Nightmare, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and now Black Ops. Hadn't really thought much about New Vegas since I've played these other PLAYABLE GAMES.

Today I rage quit Black Ops cause I hate knives, so I decided to pop in that coaster Bethesda/Obsidian made thinking it had probably been patched by now. But shortly after the game started I relieved it hadn't been updated yet. So what have you guys at Bethesda/Obsidian been up to for a month now? I have given up all hope that you will ever fix this game and will be throwing into my turkey fryer tomorrow. After I'm done cooking the delicious turkey of course. I would rather destroy it than it be resold to some 12 year old kid for Christmas just so he can be let down by and unplayable video game. I'm sure you will lock this thread because it's ranting but I could careless.

Sincerely
Former Customer

I am surprised that you are surprised they haven't patched yet.
I find it hard to believe that no one in QA found any of the bugs that have been reported.
They knew about all of these bugs prior to the game being released or at least a good portion of them.

This game puts a bad taste in my mouth for any future purchases from Bethesda, or Obsidian.

This is why I said if I were them I would fire the QA and Tester teams or if they hired from a outside firm then never HIRE them again because these people obvious svck ass at their job.

Bug hunting isn't as easy as you think it is. You've got to reliably replicate something that only happens under specific conditions, and work out what it actually is thats causing that.

Yah I feel your frustration, black ops can only fill the void for so long before the pervasive camping eventually tips me over the boiling point. But hopefully the patch will come soon, probably before dec. 21 so that the dead money dlc will be more successful but who knows. its already been way too long. happy thanksgiving...

Same here dude, I'm so tired of not being able to play it I ended up watching videos on Youtube about NV gameplay and stuff just to bide my time while I wait for it to get fixed. I don't plan on making a new character either, a level 30 with all but 4 locations discovered and the main story line quest done doesn't sound like something I wanna go over again. Plus the fact that it could happen again, just randomly? Why play a game that's just gonna freak out and die on you half way through? This is possibly the worst gaming experience I've ever had buying and playing a game.

For the love of God or Buddha or whatthehellever you worship, fix this damn game..I'm tired of it sitting in between my copies of L4D1 and Gears Of War 1..I'd like to move it to the games I play shelf again.

Whats REALLY sad is the prJected fix list that was goin through final testing. It had a few wonderful additions (companion fixes and markers - thank you!) but only a couple significant game bugs (strip lock out). Considering how many problems there are, I think they should have just tackled the initial corruption issues and game breakers and coupled the rest with later DLC. It really has been too long for them to stall out fixing the two most significant reported problems.

I dont have the link, but an earlier thread linked the announcement of the upcoming patch that is essentially already working on STEAM for pcs. (this would be the 2nd for pc where as consoles are still currently only one patch through).

Ya I couldnt agree more. It appears that the only thing they spent any time or effort on was making the release trailer to svcker people into buying a bugged out game. Im more pissed at myself for not renting the game before spenting nearly $100 on the collectors edition. I thought that Brink looked good in the trailers but now im more skeptical than ever.

Starting to get the impression people are not excited for the DLC Dead Money coming out for 800MP on December 21st. Since Bethesda took the huge effort and time to announce this to us, could you at least not show a little gratitude?

Well, ive had alot of fun with the game so far, even tho i also had a few ragebursts over the bugs. At the moment i cannot use companions since they bug out and dissapear. I do however still get their bonuses, so i suppose ill have to be satisfied with that.

And honestly i think that getting a free dlc is perhaps a bit too much, but at least give us something Bethesda. I think most of the buyers of New Vegas are old time fans who already bought alot of the earlier products. Personally i bought Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, That Fallout game for the xbox that i cannot remember the name on, Fallout 3 and every Fallout 3 dlc released.
Personally id be satisfied with an update that included something fun ingame. A new weapon perhaps? :)

I think the DLC announcement and lack of specifics from the development team is very telling. Many DLC's i've bought in the past have required a small pre-patch to work. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that they are waiting to release them simultaenously. maybe i'm wrong but I'm adjusting my expectations for a patch until mid to late DEC.

Hey at least you like me have deck of playing cards in that box, those are totally playable..... And pretty nice comic book and few chips you can use for worry coin while waiting for patch . I busy myself for now with assassin creed brotherhood... by the gods, not a single bug I noticed... also uses engine of predecessor, but they got it right... I kind of half expected it with Obsidian reputation...I still remember bugged and chopped version of Kotor2, in end felt like they wrapped it up under pressure (hints to much more content, but then it ended).
At least NV has tons of content compare to that.

Yah! Bring back custom weapons! Weapon repair kits were dream for the Fallout 3, well until you get those cheating alien repair thingies, epoxy. But why all custom fun weapons were cut out? Those had separate copyright and couldnt be added because of it? I cant think why else.. Not one custom
weapon, saved for time bomb, and fallout 3 had half dozen or so. Now free update with those added might have healed some fresh wound to fallout community.

We generally don't allow duplicate threads on this forum. So with all the "when's the patch coming out" threads cluttering up this sub-forum, it's time for a little bit of clean-up, here. Please feel free to continue this discussion in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1144465-anybody-getting-tired-of-waiting/. Thanks.
