That big trollgiant like thing = Ogre?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:52 pm

Ogres failed to make a reappearance in Skyrim. Could the large frost troll/giant type thing in the trailer be an ogre?

I've seen people on here say it might be one of these things. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Karstaag

It does sorta look like that.

It does indeed look like him... Who's to say though? We can but speculate.

I never actually played Bloodmoon so never actually saw that thing moving around, but it's probably either that or they put ogres in the game.

It does seem ogre like... I mean, it does look a bit like a giant (perhaps a frost giant? or a vampiric giant), but ogres are the only other similar creature that also uses clubs.

It looked a little bland to me, maybe it will look cooler at a better angle.

Karstaag is a frost giant, Hircine says it himself during your first meeting with him in Bloodmoon.

The model work and animation seen in that split second for this monster seemed outdated to me, on par with an Oblivion monster, not Skyrim. The musculature and posture seemed clunky and clumsy. Rewatching it, I am surprised by this given the improvements made by Bethesda since Oblivion in their modeling department.

I love furry snow ogres, giants, jottuns, yetis, wedigos etc. so it's a soft spot for me.

im thinking Snow Giant more than Vampire Giant, i dont think all content will be undeady stuff... possibly also rieklings, or however you spell it, are involved in the DLC... as for the "snow elf prince" we only saw a small clip of some falmer dying, perhaps the Snow Giant became a falmer king ... and yes that last bit was sarcasm

Hi there evilknick! How have you been doing? Great, or so I hope.

I have brought up this point many times in my posted reactions to the trailer. The animations look plain ugly, with a distinct Oblivion off flavour. And you are right. This is even more surprising as Beth has somewhat catched up on the animation department. Again, they are very off putting.

It looks like a huge Falmer to me. The ears, eyes, claws, and skin color are all the same. Maybe it could be something to do with the snow prince found in the last patch.

I think it is an Ice Giant, like Karstaag from Bloodmoon.

I was about to say it looks different from Karstaag, but I have Karstaags picture up and the Dawnguard video paused at the big troll/giant type thing and I believe it is a frost giant. They have the same horns and brow ridge, even the same over-sized, three-digit hands and large forehead. Not to mention the fact that it's almost 2.5 times taller than the dragonborn in the video.

it seemed a bit furry and blue, more than the falmers paley skin... looked more trollish than falmerish

A frost giant. You do find one in Blood-moon (Solstheim) for Morrowind. Part of the quest. Well ... theres actually 2 types one is Karstaag .. and the other one is a type of demon the Grahl. Could be either. Don't care really .. all i want to know where the DLC is going to take place. How big is it? what type of changes? .. Oh .. and i don't like Vampires that much ..

I would imagine it is the same species as Karstaag from Bloodmoon, which as far as i could work out is some form of Ice Giant.

It's a Giant Snow-Elf Vampire Were-Troll.

I think that covers everything.
