What a list! And nicely ordered by release year. Each game title can be clicked for a description of what it is that made it so good. If you're looking for interesting games, this list should be very useful. I'm still clicking through it. :)

It only took seconds, then I wondered where the heck Wing Commander was on the list. Wing Commander is arguably the game that started PC gaming, considering it was the first major exclusive game that made people who played on other platforms green of envy. Although later on it was ported to other platforms as well :P

Decent list, though. And there are a few games I haven't played.

I've owned quite a few of those games.

Though dated, it still saddens me how some of those ancient games outshine recent productions.

That... was so nostalgic *sniff*
Half-Life wasn't a big surprise, but at least Morrowind made it to the list. Minecraft made it to the list too, yay!
But where's Red Dead Redemption?

These lists are always heavy on the subjective, but then how could we really quantify the "best"? But yeah seriously, Minesweeper?

Red Orchestra is a fun game, im amazed people still play it! I will play it, and its mod, Darkest Hour, for hours on end. Why? Because its one helluva game.

This used to be so awesome playing it as a kid :D :D

Nice list. I find it odd that Starcraft 1 isn't on it though.

They had the game up on OnLive for awhile. Thought it looked cool but rough. Definitely gives me a reason to check it out.

I find the lack of the original Far Cry disturbing. In my opinion they are also missing a lot of other games, but you can't please everyone I guess.

Doesn't seem like a very well thought out list. It's like they picked a few of the most popular games per year and missed a lot of classics.

Did you read that they said "it's what they liked"? Then agian, anything Gamespot or IGN or anyone else does the exact thing as well. They miss alot of games as well.

It is what they liked, and what THEY thought were the best for those years. It is personal choice. At least they don't claim like Gamespot, IGN or other sites claim to be the best lists and the truth.

I like it. Not scientific, and an honest truth. Trush me, if Gamespot or IGN did this, they would have Civ V in there as the best game ever.

Wow, one of the very few lists I can actually agree with (mostly).

Arcanum and System Shock 2 needs to be mentioned though!

That's because Morrowind and Fallout 1/2 are there. ;)

Morrowind is the game that brought The Elder Scrolls series to most gamers. Fallout 1/2 brought something completely new and innovative in the PC RPG world.

I don't get it. Morrowind is not Oblivion. Fallout 1 and 2 are far from Fallout 3.

I stick by my claim. Worst list ever!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Okay, I'm seriously missing games like Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, Brothers in Arms, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Silent Hunter, Operation Flashpoint, Colin McRae or other games of these franchises on this list... Not to mention a lot of recent games I recall that were simply sublime.

There's a bunch of games missing that I'd like to see on there and there are some on it that I personally don't agree with, but it's still miles beyond any other best-games-ever-list that I've seen. I can agree with most of it.

Meh, starcraft should be on that list. Besides that I'm pretty glad that EVE online is on that list.

Agreed. I'm not a big RTS fan, but Starcraft is pretty damn influential in the video game world.... being a religion in some Asian countries and all. :shifty:

System Shock 2 is on there, under 1999. Even the screenshot is from SS2.

Not sure how you can include Starcraft II but not the original. The rest of the list I approve, the the more recent offerings include a lot of good, and not great, titles.
