The Aalto, a strange vineyard

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 3:20 am

From the Oblivion book "Warrior"

"In north-central Skyrim, there is an area called The Aalto, which is of unique geographical interest. It is a dormant volcanic valley surrounded on all sides by glaciers, so the earth is hot from the volcano, but the constant water drizzle and air is frigid. A graqe called Jazbay grows there comfortably, and everywhere else in Tamriel it withers and dies. The strange vineyard is a privately owned, and the wine produced from it is thus rare and extremely expensive. It is said that the Emperor needs the permission of the Imperial Council to have a glass of it once a year."

I hope this vineyard is in the game.
I wanna drink some Jazbay wine!

You can't mod cut content if the content was never there to be cut in the first place.

EDIT: I Don't see why it wouldn't be in anyway, they have other such landmarks in the game that we have seen/heard about in previous games.

Content can be 'cut' if it's on the lore but not on the game... like Stutch... or the real flora of Cyrodiil :whistling:

I just think the environment sounds cool... A vineyard in a dormant volcanic valley surrounded by glaciers...sounds awesome!

The story is about a thief who steals a "gem the size of an apple."
I hope we get to steal this gem as well!

If it's in the game, I'm gonna steal all of it and drink four bottles at once.

Hmm...we got moved.
Guess this thread counts as a "spoiler."
Does this mean that the Aalto is confirmed to be in the game?

BOT

If you look at the official map,
one of the "x's" is in north-central Skyrim,
where the vineyard is said to be located.

It is just east of Morthal and surrounded by small mountains.
If the vineyard does exist in the game,
I'm guessing it is here.

It must be near Morthal up in the marshlands if it actually exists.

I don't think it would be IN the marshlands.
Graqes don't grow in marshy areas.
The hills seem more likely to me.

Also, it's been two-hundred years so maybe the vineyard just isn't there anymore.

True, but other generations of families could have kept the business going.
Plus, maybe the Jazbay graqe vine can get very old.

I just wouldn't count on many things from lore being in the game itself. Look at it from their perspective when they were writing all this for Oblivion. They knew they wouldn't have to make it for years to come; maybe never so they got as fantastical as they wanted. Books from the last games also stated that Skyrim had over five arenas or something like that and we don't even get one.

Well jazbay seem to be a rare berry in this game and I've just picked up a quest to gather 20 of them and I just cannot find any growing wild.
