The Assassin

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 10:54 pm

Hey all. I finally got the PC version of New Vegas, and man do the mods really make it worth it. As such, I hope to dabble in some machinima a little bit, get a full-fledged series going, but right now I'm experimenting. I have a result of an experiment that I made yesterday night, called "The Assassin." I know it's not the best, but I'd like to know what you guys think.

One shot, one kill is for pussies. :gun: :celebration:

Cool armor, and I liked the over-head shot on exiting the building.

It was pretty good.

One complaint though, you used too many vanilla animations. Should've used some mods.

Other than that, I'd say you have some talent.

This should probably be moved to Fanfic. But otherwise pretty neat.

Want feedback?

I didn't like it. The opening shot was too long and uninspired. Then, I thought it was stupid how the "assassin" was just standing there, before walking plainly up to the oblivious target. There is no attempt at demonstrating any back story or build-up to the attack, so it comes off that the "assassin" is unskilled and their actions are more random than anything. I also felt that the shooting went on unnecessarily long; it felt awkward. No assassin would unload that many shots into a mark at close range, and the pauses in-between shots imply that either it was a crime of passion, or that the shooter was a psychopath. It felt very inconsistent (the shooter is standing in plain sight, yet there is no reaction from the victim) and overall pretty amateur.

On the plus side, the second shot, between the legs, was pretty cool, and there was pretty decent continuity.

thank you for that. i know you're not angry like the other person said haha. like i said, it's not great, and im extremely new to the whole machinima scene, and i just wanted to make something to see what kind of feedback i would get. this was precisely the kind of thing i was looking for.

I dislike the character appearance.
Doesn't look the least bit Fallout to me.

I hate the anime character (I cant stand Japanese Anime+Western RPG combinations, it's very offputting IMO)

That said, I'm glad this is watchable, a little work on the '30 second plot' that it has, but the fact it didnt start out with some dumb metal/rock song made me happy, you'd be surprised how many machinimas I stop at 0:02 seconds because a terrible song I dont want to hear plays.

its funny you mention that cuz i dont like it either, however, the mod is the Nova hairstyle (as in Nova of Starcraft: Ghost), and the face is actually the 10th character pregen from the start of the game. but i can understand how it'd be off-putting
