I think there are five of them. A bee, a moth, a butterfly, a dragonfly, and a torch bug.

So no insane conspiracy?

There was a whole conspiracy theory awhile back, might try digging it up.

I have bee, moth and butterfly. I've decorated my Riften home with them.

You would think they would have SOME value beyond decoration and novelty - hell, it would be easy to dream up a wild, long quest about them. But nooooooooo....................

Jeez, the bethesda guys made a great, great game but left so many quest possibilities undeveloped or partially developed - Stones of barenziah is a glaring example.

I found the butterfly in a jar in an abandoned shack, and I totally keep it as a pet in Proudspire. No shame. I gave up on deciphering the rune, however, because I was pretty tired of flipping the thing over and then spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to arrange it right-side-up afterwards.

They're some wierd, abaondoned quest, I think.
Theres something more to them than just cruely treated insects, but they took it out, I think.

I hate them, it's cruel keeping insects in jars.
I want to smash then and set them free.
I tried and they won't break. :(

You can't even sell them, which is stupid.
