The characters make me wanna blow my freakin head off!

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:29 pm

I think, being an older school gamer, I am not overly caring about a games graphics.
Remember Star Fox on the SNES? Ya, wireframe polygon awesomeness.

As far as it goes for me, a game with an in-depth, intriguing storyline and characters out do graphics, with this said:

MY GUY RUNS LIKE A HANDITARD.
HE HOLDS GUN LIKE A HANDITARD.
I THINK MY CHARACTER IS A HANDITARD.

(No disrespect to handicapped people. ily all)

I know this is a "FPS RPG", but I won't lie, I hate in FP mode unless i'm in a small cramped area, like tunnels. I try to run around, and gunfight in third person because, well, I like seeing my guy/gal toting that beast .50 cal sniper that can blow a hole through a tank. But.... WHY does he have to look SO GAY. I know that FO:3 had an amazing mod to fix this, I'v even tried mods for F:NV to make it look better, but... my character actually ruins this game for me :(. I see him running with a pistol, straight out in one arm, and wonder WHY. Then I see him running with a rifle out, hugged against his stomach. WHY. Even mods can't fix this and do it justice! THEY JUST LOOK BAD!

And while i'm on my little rant;
My guy runs like suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a moron, he like. Lean's forward 2 feet as he runs.
Guess it's back to FO:3 ):

Yes, we truly do care if you like this game or not..... :rolleyes:

If you're not going to play New Vegas no need to announce it on here.

Seriously? Of all the problems this game has.. this is the one your going to throw a hissy fit over? :shakehead: Lol.

I agree with you though, the third person mode in this game is ridiculous. It was like that in Fallout 3 and Oblivion too. I don't even know how to describe it properly (GAY HANDITARD is not a proper description lol). Your character sort of.. moonwalks.. diagonally..

I'm not. The more the merrier. Or bitter..er, as the case may be. It's probably not going to achieve anything though. Bethesda already have their money.

I actually never seemed to run into any of the bugs other people mention they always got o.o
Actually, my game has been running rather nicely.
Then I see my guy run and oh dear.

@Psychotic,
I agree, he does seem to... moonwalk. Do you notice when you run, you move before your feet do? XD
Annd yes, watching my guy transition from running forward to sideways and vice versa kinda makes me puke xD

I can sympathize with the desire to let the developers know you're not satisfied with the product, especially as the price of games goes up and up.

However what *I'M* really sick of is illiterate ranting. It's one thing to make a calm, well-thought-out post, to appraise the developers of what you perceive are the shortcomings of a product. it's another to rant incoherently

Yeah it's just completely [censored]. Even if they had just added a couple more animations for diagonal movement then it would have at least been acceptable. Thankfully I always play in first person and the NPCs can only run forwards, so I never have to see it. But if for some reason I do switch to third person view, all I can really do is shake my head at it.

One thing that does sort of create the illusion of a decent animation is if you zoom the camera in close so that you can only see your chartacer from the waist up. It looks kinda like the over the shoulder view you got in Gears of War, and more importantly you can't see the moonwalking feet.

maybe its just because i have max graphics but he doesn't run with a pistol straight out(that annoyed me alot in fallout 3), he runs with his gun lifted by his head pointing into the air like a bad-ass

I actually never thought of that, and thats how I love to do my crouching and shooting. xD
I'm just hoping the guy who did the FO:3 third person mod is working on one for FO:NV, cause that revolutionized the game for me.
Until then, I will just have to accept I can't hold down W and A or D at the same time lmao.

I still love everything else about the game to.
I think those Fallout mods I used to make it look more real ruined my life :(

Yeah mine does that too, with the one handed weapons. When you move forward he puts it up above shoulder level, like robocop lol.

actually in oblivion it's not so bad because you can see the entire character and not just the hip up... also, some armor made you look better when running like full daedric or something

the one thing that gets me is the elbows... why do they look so... wierd on female pc's? the running thing doesn't mean too much to me... mostly cus I use melee now... some guns you use first person some you don't like the machine gun for third person and the hunting shotgun in first although for the hunting shotgun the reload is bugged lol.

I'm pretty sure that the animations aren't effected by the graphics settings.

But while I'd say some of the animations have been improved since Fallout 3 (The hand to hand animations come to mind, I'd say.) I do actually agree that some animations are still kind of awkward, most notably, the one for running backwards, fortunately, since I'm not in the habit of playing in third person, it really doesn't bother me much. It's not like I expected much improvement in the animation department anyway, though maybe it wouldn't have been foolish to do so, since the game was not being made by Bethesda (I have nothing against Bethesda, of course. They've made some games I really like, it's just that I've always felt that, in terms of character animations, their games tend to be somewhat behind their competitors.) but regardless, since I never had high expectations in that regard, I can't say I was dissappointed by what I saw.
