The Couriers taking stuff, my sweetroll.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:04 am

Im in Rorkstaed while a Corier runs up to me and gives me a note, at this time I have just killed a dragon and are overcumbered. I have no follower. (I was doing Erik slayer quest) so I drop my armour steel plate and some food so I can fast travel (I try to only use it when im overcumbered and need to lose weight fast.) So the courier comes back takes my sweetroll and other food and then my armour and runs off. After I chased him down he says do you want the armour and tells me not to leave it there, he drop the armour and everything else. I then report to whiterun to try to tell a guard that my sweetroll has been stolen and they just laugh.
I think there should be an option to actually report to the guards, you walk up to one and instead of the arrow knee they say 'Is there a problem', then you can tell them if you have been mugged, saw a murder, a group of illegal necromancers, skooma dealers etc.
Yes, no?

You know, if you dropped it voluntarily and someone else picked it up, they didn't actually steal it. You threw it away and your trash was their treasure. :P

I've had couriers (and others) pick up stuff I've dropped, but they never ran off with the items. They either give it back or ask if I want it. What happened to you is far more interesting. :)

Funny I was in whiterun a few days ago with my other nord charecter and I decided to go to the Guard Barracks near the gate and I saw a nice juicy sweetroll on the table with a bunch of guards staring at me. I couldn't resist and decided to steal it. Of course I had the guard telling me "What do you think you're doing?" before getting a 5 dollar bounty over my head.

I had that happen to me too. Just not for a sweet roll..... I was practicing pickpocketing, did NOT get caught. Lifted 19GP off a guard near one of the shops in Whiterun and went my merry way. Shortly after I got the same message. Was wonder what was up with that since I was successful. Maybe it was another occurance, but that was all I could think of.

The guard was rich for sure. Had paid the hired thugs 100 each to teach me a lesson.

That happens to me once in a while. I tend to think of those as being guards with suspicions but not enough evidence. Can't get a warrant, so they go outside the system. My goody-two-shoes mage only ever stole food. A Solitude guard sent three thugs after my level 10 weakling mage over a stolen CABBAGE. Bully.

Ok, now people around me are beginning to wonder why I'm shaking with laughter

I like the detail that the guard signed with "Whiterun guard". Couldn't it at least have been "Rolf, Whiterun Guard" or "Ingrid, Whiterun Guard", or whatever? Even guards must have names even though the player doesn't get to know them...

Thats a problem skyrim has; any undetected theft or murder seems to be detected by unknown beings eventually with all the threat notes and all that. Example: I murdered Braith of whiterun or something, without being detected by anyone and not incurring a bounty. A few days later i get the thug event, with the note indicating that braith's mother initiated the bounty hunt.

Which is total [censored] since no one saw me AT ALL. We went from psychic guards in oblivion to psychic everyone in skyrim.

Sure, this adds variety to the game and whatnot, i was pleasantly surprised about this thug event when i first encountered it. Although the ridiculousness of the event as you continue playing the game makes it annoying. Not to mention all the "PSST I KNOW WHO YOU ARE HAIL SITHIS WEWT!!!111!!!" Totally makes you feel like a failed assassin/sneak player even though no one detected you :meh:

Or when I stole a book from Anise's cabin. Anise was dead, killed by some bandits I accidently lead there. It was very early in the game. Still, Anise's sister (who I never met, and who lives quite far from Anise) not only knows someone stole something from her dead sister, she KNOWS MY NAME AND WHEREABOUTS. It doesn't make any sense at all.

Compared to the time when I stole some potions in a store, and the owner sent thugs after me. That made sense - she knew who I was, and might have seen what was missing once I left, and made the logic conclusionthat I was the thief.
