Friday was my first day trying 1.6 because my old pc died on me so i got a new one, after i installed skyrim i downloaded the HD texture packs and patches. Ii got through about 17 hours of gameplay and decided to do the cursed tribe quest for the volendrung artifact.
After i got to largashbur nothing happened their were no giants attacking and no orcs in sight. So i went to riften to see if i can start the quest by getting the guards to talk to me and tell me about them, not one guard mentioned it after 20 minuits of talking to the guards. I then tried to force the quest to start using "setstage da06 10". This also did not work, the console recognised the command but did not start the quest any help would be appreciated as im trying to get volendrung to get the 15 daedra artfiacts achievement.

What level are you? The quest won't start until level 9.

Right so that isn't the problem.Could you try entering the following commands and see what the output is then "Getstage DA06".
If this shows up as 10 please enter "resetquest DA06" and then enter the previous command again. You should see either no output or something like 0.

You can then try to walk towards the stronghold again and see if the Giants are there, or alternatively enter "setstage DA06 10" in the console again to see if you have any results.
