The Dawnguard arn't going to be weird cultests are they?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:11 am

My biggest fear for this game is that the Dawnguard will be nothing more then over zealous fanatics who just want you in there cult where they worship the pagan god of the sun.

That's what almost half the guilds in Skryim were, the Companions are blood drinking cannibals and the thieves guild is a cover for the "nightingales" who would sell there souls for an extra dime. And i think we no how disgusting a ritualistic the DB can be (Altough the DB should remain horrible cultist imo)

And because i'm a non-mage the only guild i can join is the bards college (might do the war though.

I'm hoping that the Dawnguard will be an interesting and hopfully level-headed faction who simply want to kick Vampire butt.

In my oppinion that should be the bottom line..there's no reason this faction needs to be weird.

They defend Skyrim from all kinds of trouble and fight for honor and glory. But they're secretly actually Werewolves!.. :D

I think the dawnguard are not fanatic's, i see them more as fighting evil. What would you do if some vampires are trying to black out the sun so that they can try and rule the world? I would kill them for it haha. (Still i'll be joining the vampires  )

I think the Dawnguard may indeed be zealots. There will probably be power struggles within the organisation between a level headed leader and a fanatical leader who wishes to kill all vampires and anyone and thing that has the slightest thing to do with them, the kind that would slaughter 1,000 living people in order to destroy a single vampire lair and such.

That would make for an interesting story, I would love that.

Well, if we're too assume the lore is correct. Vamps are spawn off of the silly Daedra, I'd be surprised if the Dawnguard didn't have some connection too gods or whatnot. Though, considering the theme of Skyrim - the whole war over the Talos nonsense -, it's more than likely they'll have some connection to zealot-ism. They're fighting the evil, demon daedra for Talos sake! :P

No. They're too extreme for my tastes, the Vigilants of Stendarr irritate me beyond belief. They hate ANYTHING to do with daedra, even the less evil Princes like Meridia or Azura. I'm all for fighting evil but not to an extreme end like the Vigilant.

Well, they could be a less fanatic splinter group.

I hope so. Magnus/Meridia/Azura cultists would make for a far more interesting quest than People-Who-Don't-Like-Vampires. Also, it's kind of silly to complain about groups worshiping gods in a world where every god is real.

Please no.

I hope they aren't. Though I would like there to be some zealous members in the group. An organizations dedicated to killing Vampires/undead has to attract all sorts of people.

Well, if they are a zealot then it would be another shade of grey. But I'll still choose Dawnguard they seems to be the lesser evil.

Personally, I'm hoping they present a level-headed view. As some people are saying, we have enough zealots. I'm hoping they fill the niche of a 'crusaders guild'. Heavy emphasis on clean, quick kills of vampires, daedra, etc. using the crossbows and maybe some new Restoration spells? I'd like to see a faction that applies both magic and steel equally in a practical manner. Currently, we only have two factions that focus on those things, and both view the other contemptuously. The mages of Winterhold wouldn't be caught dead using swords, likewise the Companions strongly disapprove of magic in battle. Dawnguard has a chance to walk the line as faction, being welcoming to those skilled in either or both. I guess I'm hoping for a unique combination of the Vigilants of Stendarr and the Silver Hand, sans the snooty attitude and torture of their enemies, respectively.

Trolls are a hostile creature and apprently you get an armoured troll, so you got to be a pretty ncice guy to be able to tame an armoured troll.

Dude, have you ever heard of paladins? Thats basically what they are. Honest, holy warriors and champions of good who truly believe in upholding the holyness in the land and protecting it from the most perilous kinds of evil such as demons, "vampires", or other evil entities. Basically, you will not be disappointed when you play dawnguard. Besides, you get crossbows early.

Spoiler
I think you misunderstand the guilds. The companions aren't all werewolves, only the circle have beast blood and worship hircine.
The circle falls apart during the questline anyway, there's only one werewolf left at the end.

The majority of the thieves guild don't even know about nocturnal, it's only the nightingales.

The dark brotherhood are a little different, but quite a few of them are only there for the killing, not as some cult.
I do agree with you though, I hope they don't worship anyone, I hope they just want to kill the vampires.

Yea but the circle and Nightingales are the factions inside the factions. And the ones who are really in control.

Yea i wouldn't mind to much if they're semi-zealous just as long as it's about the same as in Knights of the nine.

Are you kidding me? Making the Dawnguard a bunch of religious fanatics would be great! Because that's what most vampire hunting organzations are! Crazy fanatics! I will be fair and not a boring archetype "Evil vs good" story, but a grey vs grey tale. SIlver Hand=Fanatical torturers. Vigilantes of Stendarr=Hypocritical fanatics. Dawnguard="evil" fanatics.
