The Dragon Stone in Bleak Falls Barrow

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:00 pm

Hey You Guys,

I am not new to games, just been out of it for some time. I recently bought a XBOX and started gaming again. I rented Skrim to see if I would like playing it and wound up buying it the next day. I have played ever since for hours and hours. I even joined XBOX Live to play it online some times. I have also purchased Oblivion too, so you can see I have fell in love The Elder Scrolls games and want to go back and play them all at some time.

I have a question for you guys, I have been playing Skyrim and have made it to the third level and went to Jarl Bolgrufs and had his court wizzard ask me to find the Dragon Stone. This is supposed to be a tablet with the secrets to the dragons engraved on it and can be found in the Bleak Falls Barrow Temple. I have been all through this level and I beleive that when you first enter the temple there are three sarcophagus (vault/Coffin) on the left and there two with tops off and the first is untouched with the lid placed on top and when I walk up I can't search or do anything to it. The veiw finder at the top the screen lines up with the icon for the Dragon Stone when walking up to this untouched sarcophagus, I feel the dragon stone is inside it. Is there someway to open that coffin. It is driving me crazy because you know I just had to drop my wood cutter's axe and can't find it again. I was going to leave but the map showed the stone is still in the temple so I went back through the Barrows to see if I could find the dragon stone and I hate to leave and play more of the game if I need that axe. Please explain what I am to do. Go on to riverdale and take the iron claw back to get something to open the the sarcophagus or back up to a previous save point before I dropped the wood cutter's axe. Any help would be much appearched. Thanks for your time, I am so glad to get back to roll playing it even better then it used to be, Thanks again.

First, welcome to The Elder Scrolls.

Second, it's customary to ask questions about question in the spoiler forum, since both the question and answers often contain spoilers. Since the one you are asking about is very early in the game, it's doubtful many people will have a problem with it, but you should keep that in mind for later on.

Finally, regarding the the question:
Spoiler
The dragonstone is on the final boss of the dungeon. It's not hidden, you just have to work your way through the whole thing, and kill the final boss (I think it was a Draugr Scourge maybe? I haven't been through it a a couple of weeks). If you haven't gotten through the door that requires the golden claw to open it, you haven't yet reached that part of the dungeon.

As to the woodcutter's axe: There is usually one near any wood pile. I recommend not even carrying one, since it weighs 10 pounds, and you can likely find one anywhere you need to cut wood.

Welcome.
I assume you want the axe because you think you need to hack your way into the sarcophagus for the stone? As Tallenn says, it will be on the boss at the end of the dungeon. You dont need an axe.

Move to spoilers requested.

I'm not sure, but as far as I can remember you must approach the Word Wall and learn a new Word of Power, before the boss gets out of his coffin? Or am I completely wrong? xD

Correct. The boss does not get out of the sarcophagus until after you approach the word wall and are given the word.

Just FYI, look closely at that tablet before you turn it in to the wizard. I don't want to spoil it for you, but it's worth the look.....

Wait, what?

Skyrim isn't a multiplayer game, which for most people is the whole point of playing online. I think, though, if you have Xbox Live friends or whatever, going online will allow them to see what you're playing? I don't know; I don't actually own one.
