The dragons, after the MQ....

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 10:34 pm

So after the MQ, even after Parrthanax, I have had to fight a dragon 2 out of every 3 times I fast travel. I tired to just avoid the fight by running off the last couple of times, but Mjoll or Shadowmere will rush over to start trouble. I drop most of them quick enough, and the gold is nice, it just seems to have become a default "random encounter". Like I'm getting dragons instead of wolves or spiders.

So many have cried over this, I know. I'm not so much worried about the action, interuption, or shear boredom, as I am the story line. Did they suddenly mass spawn or something? Is there an unreachable nest that just expoded? Before the MQ you have to seek them out, and do damage to get them to land. Now they are everywhere, and they rush about a third of the time.

Thoughts?

I used to get mad that they wouldn't come down and fight me. I wanted to do that shield pounding animation that some enemies do. "Hey, Hey You! Down Here!".

Now I just ignore them and if they attack me, then it's on, if they fly off, so be it. It's not like I don't have more souls and bone/scales than I know what to do with anyway.

This is where I'm at. I only need 7 more shout words, but I have 26 souls collected. I'm more concerned about the sudden frequency. I wouldn't mind if they hunted in packs (two or three at a time), at least then they would be a challenge. It has seriously turned into "random encounter=yes then bear 1/dragon 1/sabre cat 1". I see more dragons than wolves now, and I haven't seen a wild spider in probably a dozen hours of gameplay. Are the drasgons eating all of them?

I know it's probably just enemies leveling with me, but it leaves a hole int he storyline when species are becoming extinct while others are mass multiplying. Since most of the dragins I see are "Acient Dragons", they aren't young ones, unless that is a refernece to a specific species, rather than their age.

2 or 3 dragons attacking at the same time would be intense
