The emperor of Skyrim? (DB spoiler)

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 3:22 pm

So, after you kill the Emperor of the, well, empire, a guard said that the emperor of skyrim had been killed. I facepalmed, how did Bethesda miss this?

Titus Mede II is the Emperor of Skyrim. Just as he is the Emperor of High Rock and Cyrodiil.

Yeah, Emperor of Skyrim seems weird. He's the emperor of the empire, but saying he's just the emperor of skyrim isn't quite right. If they are refering to Torygg, (which they don't) then it doesn't make sense at all, because he was never an emperor, just a high-king.

They didnt have writing problems for the npcs like this in oblivion. It honestly feels to me like they got someone who had english as their 2nd language to write the dialog for the npcs in this game.

Skyrim = In Tamriel

Empire = Control of a large land mass, usually ruled by 1 overseer, with sub divsions.

Emperor = Owner/ruler of the Empire

The emperor of Tamriel rules ALL of Tamriel thus he rules skyrim as well.

A stormcloak guard considers the emperor the ruler of skyrim? I think not. You can reason the bad written line by saying the emperor is also the emperor of skyrim but a stormcloak guard would never say that line.

So its down to bad writing im sad to say. No need to sugercoat it. Skyrim has over 10 mil buyers. Bethesda need to up their game for elder scrolls 6 and have more polish.

Its weird but it makes sence. Its kind of like calling Obama the president of New Jersey or something. He is, but it just sounds weird.

Titus Mede II is the Emperor of Skyrim, just like Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Australia.

It sounds a bit more pleasing than 'The Emperor of the Empire', and is far more accurate than 'The Emperor of Tamriel'.

Why are you people starting threads of this nature in the General Discussion?

Is the spoiler creation week?

If so, I be glad to see Monday, because I'm sure Tuesday will be flooded with spoilers again.

No..I'm not. You miss my point. I'm well aware of what is planned, my good man.

However, when has that ever stopped the GDF from being swamped by excited kids that not only have homework, but do it with crayons and have juice boxes with their lunch?

No need for that mushy stuff....awww, come here! :hugs:

But, no kidding...those bratty little Skeever turds will be bustin' a gut to post first about this and that. In which there will be no regard for fellow members and they will not be checking the designated forums and there will be suspensions. I love it! :gun:

Yes but no one would phrase it like this in an actual sentence. Not in real life (No one in Egypt said "The emperor of Egypt when referring to the roman emperor). Not in Tamriel either. The people of Morrowind dont say "The Emperor of Morrowind", the people of daggerfall dont call him "the emperor of High Rock" so on and so forth. This piece of dialogue was a ball-dropping of face-palming proportions.
