The end of my short modding career...

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:46 am

I had great plans for this...
The steamworks enabling DYNAMIC EVENTS by making changes in each mod update...
Built my mod. Works well on my runthroughs, then I go to upload it to steam...
When I try to upload just an .esp to Steam, I dont get the normal prompt to choose whether to manually archive or not, it automatically goes to an archive list with BSShader_DefNormalMap as the only file on the list. I cannot get to the upload dialogue. This prevents me from uploading my updated mod to Steamworks.
I look on the forums, multiple people have the same problem. But no answers. Renamed my file, tried one listed work around, didn't work.
So I'm done.
You put hours into these things then can't upload it.

Nexus ftw... Steam workshop is worlds behind it. Automatic updating is NOT a blessing when it comes to modding.

You can manually drag/drop stuff into the archive window. You can also use the delete key to remove anything trying to tag along which you don't want/need. Finally, there's always the trusty Nexus where you can just upload a .7z

Problem is that nexus mod manager does not automatically update the loaded mod to its newest version. Therefore if you had dynamic events the client would have to update the newest version before progressing through the most recent state of the dynamic event.
I would just like for the steam version to do what it says its supposed to.

Running a marathon for rep points is sort of like winning the special olympics. Even if you win... =P
