The evade button

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:16 am

The only evade button that we currently have in skyrim is hoping that your character can move back fast enough, and if something is blocking your path then you are screwed. As i was playing skyrim and my mage was constantly getting hit by weapons i was thinking that making an evade button would have been really easy to implement, in the xbox 360 while in combat you do not use the button (a) so they should have made that button into an evade button, it would probably work like this; if you hit the button at the right time then you get a 50% chance to evade a blow, what do you guys think, a mod or a even a patch if bethesda is nice enough.
I kind of like the way that alan wake used the evade button.

Being able to lie on the ground would be nice but would need more programming and bug killing to make work.

call of duty...
On topic, the sneak perk to "roll" is pretty useful/fun as an evade.

well, first you have to get level 100 in sneak to get this, second, if you are face to face with an enemy and you have to go to sneak mode to even roll you are still going to get hit a lot, i would just rather use the sprint button
its called side stepping
doesn't work, the enemies have auto tracking, even if you move to the side you are still going to get hit, trsut me i have tried this many times, the only way you can avoid is by moving back.

Yup, and I believe Zelda had it in OoT. Hmm, when was that?

come on, evading is way better and more rewarding than side stepping anyways, if you didn't know how to evade back in the days you would end up dead or in a hospital.

I was kind of agreeing with you - that the combat could be improved / be more engaging.
Evading, dodging, side stepping, or whatever mechanism/terminology deemed suitable would be a welcomed gameplay improvement imo.

I would also like for a way to block with your shield and heal (or use other magic) at the same time. It's kinda silly that you can't do that, considering that you can't sprint while using magic.

If anything, we'd need the dodge system from morrowind back, but with actual animations this time around.

Skyrim's difficulty as already way too focused on how well someone plays the game, instead of good old character stats like a proper RPG.

Once you figure out how lockpicking works, not a single lock is safe from you, once you figure out how side-strafing works, it's impossible to get killed by archers and mages,...

Aren`t you already evading by the act of moving your (control pad\keyboard) mouse backwards and from side to side? And no amount of evading will help if your back is against a wall, ask any boxer.
