the Fallout perfect figure

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:15 am

i'm sure most of you people have noticed that every person has the excact same body on this game. Just wanna hear what yall think about it... whenever u strip som1 of their armor their bodies are always like super-fit lol. people living on the vegas strip wouldnt be in perfect shape, people who like las vegas dont exercise and drink ALOT. all that alcohol combined with little exercise would leave 'em fat.

i post this cuz im like 3/4ths drunk now and im a borderline alcoholic who lifts 5x a week to avoid the big stomach that drinkers put on, so im always thinking about fitness lol

Yeah, its funny how the engine does this. Unfortunately, devs don't try to create a skeletal variation in the various NPC's so that some can be overweight, or weak looking, or really big and burly. Its annoying, but Oblivion has a Skeletal Variation mod, its just a matter of someone making it for New Vegas and Fallout 3.

...which would end in a lawsuit, I've seen a few topics talking about porting oblivion features of any kind into the game and the mods and admins get pretty pissed pretty quick.

They get mad when you port Oblivion assets into other games, yes that is illegal. But people that make mods are allowed to port those created assets, so as long as they made those features themselves and the engine supports it. Thats why there are a lot of Fallout 3 mods being ported to New Vegas.

Besides, I did say make, not port, so making a version for New Vegas.

One could say that because it's post-apocolyptic America, that food is scarce and makes it difficult to be seen as noticably fat.

No worries. Lol, I hear ya, 3 am here in New Hampshire and I keep re-editing my posts that I have been posting because of horrible mistakes. I can barely even write correctly, my coherent thoughts are starting to go out the window now too. :D I just wish I wasn't a complete perfectionist and had a bit of OCD, re-editing svcks. :(

It is kind of unrealistic, yes. Not everyone has the same body structure, this is true even when people aren't living in a post nuclear-war wasteland. Although this is one of those departures from reality that I can generally accept in games, just like the lack of any children (Even though the latter is one that Fallout doesn't have.) I understand that if the game needs to let characters wear different types of clothes and armor, making them have varied body types can be harder, so I generally just accept it. In fact, given the way that bodies are handled in the current engine, allowing characters to have different body shapes would likely require some round-about scripting, if you note, Oblivion had this too, in that case, it actually bothered me more because you had characters who aren't even human. In Fallout, you just have normal humans, ghouls, who I can accept as just normal humans retextured to look like rotting corpses, and super mutants who due to being considered "creatures" by the game mechanics already don't use the same models as normal people. Maybe if Bethesda actually decides to stop using this outdated and evidently horribly unstable engine in Fallout 4, assuming that's going to be the next Fallout game released, there might be a chance of seeing variation in body shape, but otherwise, short of mods, I don't see this changing much soon.

If that were the case, we'd probably see more people who are noticably underfed, yet we don't, everyone looks perfectly healthy. Also, while that explanation might work for people living in the wastes, it doesn't look to me like say... the people on the Strip are suffering from any lack of food.

It is possible that they're getting the necessary caloric intake. I'm just stating that it's unlikely that people running the risk of getting eaten alive by deathclaws or chased down and violated by Fiends would buy and consume enough food to make themselves fat.

Now that may not be the case with folks on the New Vegas Strip, but it isn't like the travelers can afford to get fat when they're blowing all their money at the casinos... Especially if they plan on making a trip back to their home across the burning desert. Now you may say that sort of logic doesn't apply to the people who live on the Strip but I submit that perhaps that's just a case of vanity.

I was sort of disappointed to see how scrawny Big Sal was. Or then again, maybe the name was intended as irony. >_>
