The famous DLL's?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 6:55 pm

I was hoping that someone could explain the mystery behind the 3 famous DLL files for this game. atimgpud.dll d3d9.dll and Atiumdag.dll

with my crossfire setup i have yet to find a perfect configuration to make this game work 100% correctly. I know that these 3 files, CCC settings and skyrim ini settings must have a perfect solution that i havent found yet.
Trying with SBW.exe and radeon pro but still no perfect gaming like i have in any other games.
I cant go over 2XAA without going below 50FPS no matter what i have tried so far. I now also have jagged shadows and wierd disappearing/reappearing grass.

Intel I7 920 @ 4GHz
2 x AMD HD6950
6GB RAM
Win 7 64 bit

The DLLs are engine-specific. They aid the renderer in its task of generating the scenes in Skyrim.

In regards to the user, there's nothing significant about them. They might as well have been built right into Skyrim.exe.

atimgpud.dll -> ati-m-gpu-d -> ATI multi-GPU detection -> Involves detection/handling for ATI's crossfire (your case)

atiumdag.dll -> Directly related with atimgpud. See http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/atiumdag/400280/ for more information.

d3d9.dll -> 3D..D9... -> Defined as the 3D graphics API (Application Programming Interface) within DirectX 9. Adds, obviously, DirectX functionality for Windows multimedia tasks and GAMES

(Just a side note... I think d3d9.dll is in Xbox360 too, not 100% sure but almost...)

EDIT:

LLLOOLLL... Since I don't have crossfire, I don't care about the atmgpud.dll. But the file is there, in my Skyrim folder.

The funny thing is that this file (the digital signature) expires in 2010, September... LOL...

WTH, Bethesda!!! You don't have enough money to buy the new certificate ???? :D

Thank you very much for the in depth answer. It seems in my case it would be beneficial for me to have these files in the SKYRIM dir.
I wish i had a way of seeing how crossfire scales on my system. Cant get radeonpro to show it ingame.
