So I was traveling along one day, And found Gibsons Shack, And lieing next to a skeleton.. IS a finger.

A FINGER!

What is this finger for, And is'nt it just a piece of bone now?

I wondered what the finger was for, too. I'm guessing some kind of inside joke or jokey media reference that I can't figure out. Kind of feels like there's something in the back of my mind that it reminds me of but it doesn't want to come to the forefront of my little brain.

It was hacked off by the machette / lawn mower blade, I guess whom ever's skeleton that was it belonged to the fleshy digit.
Given the quest specific computer I suppose it could be some cut content, revolving a certain companians caretaker / step dad.

Off topic, in Planescape: Torment you could "retreve" a magic ring by bitting your own finger off and placing the rotten one on to the stump.
So my guess is as a fair bit reminds me of the old Black Isle games, that someone in the dev team there has some unresolved issues.
