The Glitch of the Year award.

Zangelin - either you haven't done any/many quests, or you're not really playing Skyrim.

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Bugs_(Skyrim)

Bethesda hasn't handled a game this poorly since Daggerfall. The GOTY award means nothing. The award is just a bunch of Hollywood. It is given out to the flashiest, fanciest new trend setting game. The bar isn't set any higher than vanity allure and pop media.

I feel like I was ripped off. I have been a loyal fan and supporter of Bethesda fpr 10 years. I have owned all of the Collector's Editions for their games, including Skyrim's CE.

And I am rewarded with Beth yet again, releasing a game that was too big for them.

Their entire philosophy is that quantity is more important than quality. They are a rich gaming company, so their edge with being able to make these signature style giant Bethesda games with pretty music, and open ended thrill, nets them massive amounts of profit.

And that money is all that they want. They don't give a crap about whether or not their games have tons of bugs. As a matter of fact, in the "making of Skyrim" dvd that comes with the collector's edition, you actually see Todd Howard and his cronies laughing hysterically at the bugs, as they are watching them on screen.

I actually had the horse that was pulling the carriage with me in it as a prisoner during the opening sequence glitch, and fly into the sky causing the carriage with me, ralof and ulfric and lokir freeze. I had to dashboard and start over.

That is absolutely PATHETIC. And I just told a true story.

What do I get for the rest of my first week's worth of gameplay after picking up my pre order?

Dead npc's doing the splits, randomly hanging from treetops. Npc's that I needed to speak to in order to start/complete quests.

Backwards flying dragons and broken resistances I can handle. No big deal. But broken quests everywhere? There are dozens of reported bugged quests on the uesp wiki. So many, that the quests are unable to even be completed.

Glitches, and silly stuff is one thing. But broken quests, and massive scale bugs like this are unacceptable. I would be embarrassed if I were the creator of Skyrim.

But Bethesda already realizes that most of the gaming world are ignorant people who just like to see the "ooooh, ahhhhh" stuff, like dragons breathing fire, and mostly hack and slash, getting a thrill out of being able to murder innocent people. Finding it fun to run around with no clothes on, kicking tables off of plates.

Bethesda figures that if they could give most of the half-[censored] teenage gaming world a game where they could do that, then of course they would clench game of the year in no ti,e.

Those of us mature, seasoned RPG players need to stop expecting anything more. Bethsda has no incentive to care about the amount of bugs in their games.

First Im not a devoted fan at all, and I can understand that these types of bugs and broken quests arent fun at all but...

I have almost 200 hours of gameplay, I sadly suffer from the crash to desktop every 10 mins problem that nothing at all fixes. Regardless I am still absolutley loving this game. Theres a lot to fix yes, but I would rather have a bugged Skyrim to play than no Skyrim at all. Its that amazing to me! I find more to praise than I do to moan about. Then again i havent run into a single broken quest yet. Just the frustrating CTD.

That's a pretty high horse you have there, would be a shame if something were to happen to it. :flamethrower:

Bethsda has no incentive to care about the amount of bugs in their games.

Why should they? They can count on the MOD community that people like Kivan and Arthmoor who spend a lot of time fixing the bugs Bethesda left for them will provide all the unofficial patches that make the (complete) game playable.
Probably that is also the reason why they announced to release their own tools for the MOD community.

o tell me how does it work? Because right now any award has no leverage anyways and this is the first one Beth really deserves that I can see

I played trough all the guilds, the mainquest and nearly everything else. Havent encountered any gamebreaking Bugs.I do CTD every 30-50 mins(larger savegames only) sometimes Textures are missing after entering a cell. But otherwise there was nothing really preventing me from enjoying Skyrim.

Skyward Sword was going to be GOTY, but it took an arrow to the knee.

Also playing PC, less buggy than most pc games, game is incredible time to get off that six year old hardware.

I wouldnt say its been lowered, Ive played a ton of RPGs, Ive been around since pong first came out. Skyrim is the State of the Art and more epic than most had hoped.

Skryim is State of the Art?

Um... no. No game built around six year old hardware can be called state of the art.

That is hilarious. I have 10 of that same NPC standing around outside the stables in Whitrun all saying "Problem?" in sync. One of them's also half buried the ground.

Are people still talking about Skyrim being GOTY??? In the polls I have seen, it lost to Skyward Sword and now it's the new Assassins Creed vs Zelda for GOTY. If it weren't for backward dragons, parts of the levels not loading, and death at a wedding, this game would've probably won sadly. =/

LOL! Why dont I ever see cool stuff like this in my game. Sometimes I wonder if most of us have the "standard issue, everything is working version" and that they just released a few hundred "weird bugs versions" to generate a ton of publicity.

I used to have an arrow in my knee like you, and thanks to a glitch it's still there!
