is the goo/ash glitch going to be fixed int the next patch?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:04 pm

I know the patch is going to adjust the damage & add DT bypass for the energy weapons but right now I would reall y like to remove all those goos & ash piles I left accross the Wasteland, my Plasma Caster mightyness is starting to bend the world to his will and soon nothing will move (aka huge lag).
I guess I shouldn't have exterminated all those little Deathclaws cutties...

I don't see the problem, I see no lag with mine.

I've had an EW character and didn't notice much if any lagging even towards the end of that playthrough.

On a jocular side note, maybe if you stopped feeling your dwellings water pipes you'd stop feeling the lag :P (As Lagging is also the name for water pipe insulation.)

In FO3, I tried putting a script on the piles to make then disappear after a timer or cell reset, but they would always be "Empty". I settled for http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1289 which prevents the goo and ash piles all together (all the visuals play, but instead of removing the corpse and replacing it with a pile, it stops before that point). Looks like someone ported that mod http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36128, but I haven't tried it yet.

I don't give a royal [censored] about any updates or anything. I just want a patch so I can play longer than the amount I can survive in 1 life. Games [censored], wish I could just get a refund

IIRC atleast you can't "steal" from pile of ash anymore.

No, I doubt it will be fixed. And, as said earlier, the game has more basic problems than the goo/ash issue, sadly...

this article is quoting bethestha : http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/113/1132984p1.html
they said in the coming weeks, i didnt think id be more than 4. if they were not gonna release it this month then they should have said coming months. Thats like saying it will be in the coming days and release it a year from now and be like o well it took 365 days. so no they didnt say the end of this month, tho it was implied. Not sure what the point is tho since most of us have already beat the game, im just waiting for the patch so i can start my next playthru. needless to say, the time this is taking is ridiculous.

It is taking a while, but I'd rather they at least tried to ensure that the patch does not introduce any new bugs which are as bad if not worse than the current ones. This is a problem endemic with any fixing of a bug in any game I think (I've seen it happen countless times in MMO's, that a patch to fix something breaks other parts of the MMO sometimes in a way which is worse than the original problem).

just upsets me that they released a game that is so buggy it takes over a month to even make a patch for.

It might not be be existing bugs which is causing it to take the time it is, but the bugs which are appearing as a result of the pre-tested patch or even a series of post-fix, pre-test bugs appearing in sequence.

I could be wrong with what I've just said, but it is a point to keep in mind as a plausible cause for the patch taking as long as it is/will do.

i understand how hard it is to make a game on this scale, just think it could be coming out tomorrow bug free instead of last month bug ridden and it would have sold just the same..... actually probably better because people like me would have recommended to their friends w/o saying i wouldnt buy it till the patch.

From J.E. Sawyer himself as re-commented here. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143584-the-worst-weapon-in-the-game/page__hl__energy%20weapons__st__80 Hopefully it'll work this time, if not try searching for worst weapon and it's on page 5 of the thread.

Edit: Trying to get the linky thing to work, as it keeps opening a new window which doesn't load. Fixed thanks to Alois

i'm yet to find a single bug in this game i haven't been able to workaround/load back and get past. nothing stops this game from being a 10/10 powerhouse of awesomeness.
