The Imperials, The Stormcloaks, and The Thalmor

Hey all,

not just on these forums but many others i frequent people often seem to complain about how instead of this Civil war the imperials/stormcloaks should take on the thalmor. here is a few reasons i believe either side would make a major mistake engageing in a war with the Thalmor.

1) a two front war: since the civil war is going on, either side engageing in combat with the Thalmor would throw them on a two front war. if you look at human history very few countries have won a two front war (a two front war is the only reason the Nazis lost WWII).

2) as the stormcloaks consist of mostly Nords from Skyrim, they really dont have the man power to go on an allout conflict with the Thalmor.

3) as far as i understand the empire is not as powerful or influential as it was in the Days of Uriel Septim VII. while the Thalmor seem to be at the peak of there power.

The obvious answer to that is that they should just put aside their differences and combine forces to push back the Thalmor threat. If they do that even the Redgard (who have seceded from the emire for obvious reasons in the lore) might join forces with them again.

Once the Thalmor are defeated most of the cause of the dispute between the Stormcloak and Imperial factions in Skyrim will be null anyhow. What then remains is a matter of desire for power by their respective leaders. At the least the people of Skyrim will be less willing to follow those leaders when it's just about who gets power.

Yeah, I agree that they should both attack the Thalmor instead of fighting a pointless war that helps the Thalmor.
