Wild Wasteland

Prerequisite: None

Wild Wasteland unleashes the most bizarre and silly elements of post-apocalyptic America. Not for the faint of heart or the serious of temperament.

(the pic looks cool) I am going too take this .. but anyone have any clue WTF it really means ?

I think it mean random crazy encounters ?

sigh. you should know this by now. it means that you will (if you take it) encounter varius circumstances that some people would feel "distracts" from the games post-apocalyptic feeling. i.e. indiana joneses hat, whip, and decayed skeleton in a fridge in the middle of nowere, to name just one.

Ever played FO2?

Wild Wasteland means that you want to see a lot pop culture references in your New Vegas game, like Monty Python stuff, (Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch), flying whales, alien encounters, talking stone heads, etc.

Basically taking the Wild Wasteland perk means you are giving your permission to be bombarded by all the jokes and references that the development team thought would be hilarious. Likely a lot of 4th wall breaking stuff. Some people hated this in FO2, so in New Vegas you have to opt-in to the insanity.

Yes, there will be crazy things. However, all these crazy things are just replacement for normal things like
Spoiler
The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch replacing a Mini Nuke and the fore mentioned Indiana Jones hat.

Wait wait wait. What? Source please? I assumed this would be in addition to regular encounters and events, if it outright replaces them that would svck. And call for immediate mod intervention.

I can confirm. It's one or the other, not both.

I second Duskey's confirmation.

You either get the normal encounter or the wacky one. No getting both. Remember, traits are all about advantages . . . and drawbacks.

Blech. I like the bizarre mixed into my normality. That makes me sad.

Well, basically what everyone said. Probably best on a second playthrough, where you can fully immerse yourself in the first playthrough.
