The Little Things- Features We Want in DLCs

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:23 pm

I was searching through DLC wants and I saw of course everyone wants a new land, big houses, dragon mounts and other huge things that are expected. But I want to know, what are the little things (features, interface changes, magic stuff) that players want to see?

Please share :)

Personally, I miss some of the enchantments that made our stuff more customizable in Oblivion. I loved the fact that I could put a "detect life" enchantment on a hat or helmet and I would be able to pick up anything when dungeon diving. Or the "waterbreathing" and "waterwalking" enchantments. These enchantments didn't necessarily make you an Arch-powerful character they just made the experience more unique.

And of course, spellcrafting. Part of the problem with becoming a high level Mage is your spells just run out of power everually. If I level up my two handed, swords become more powerful, if I level up destruction, spells stay the same, unless I get the related perks. Some of us schorlarly mages want to go to the next level in our magical career, and create spells of our own. In game characters such as Jzargo or other college mages do it, and if I'm the arch mage I should definitely have the same and greater power than those under me.

What are your ideas?

I dont know. From bethesda's track record, none of their DLC's or expanions changed any mechanics of the games, especially any of the small stuff. While i hope im wrong, and bethesda is deciding to change for the better, i still see it unlikely.
Their patches that added mechanics like kill cams and stuff is definitally different then what they used to do, they might actually change some of the small things in a DLC this time around. One can always hope i guess..

Well the Water Breathing enchantment already exists, it's just really dam hard to find.
It took me forever to find it, then finally a Khajiit Caravan was selling a Glass Helmet with it on.

But I would really love Water Walking back :o
other than that, I would like a Khajiit spouse and i'm complete :D
those two things were the only plans that were not fulfilled in my plan before Skyrim came out.

I would like to hear some more variety of music in the game. Jeremy Soule is a freaking genius at beautiful music and I would love to hear a track for every area you enter. For example, you always hear the same music everywhere you go in a city. Well what about house music? Or something to make the gaming experience feel deeper.

Also I would love to see critters in the game like roaches, mice, rats ya know.

Why did you make a new thread about a discussion in a thread that you were reading?

1. A way to customize your own weapons/armors. I mean, sure, you can forge weapons and armors, but they are forged after someone else's design and are not original. If we could customize our own weapons and armors however, we could get some really interesting and original looks of our characters and their weapons.

A way to do this could be for example that you press a certain button in the forge menu to enter "custom mode", where you can edit shapes of the different parts of the armor/weapon and the materials that they are made of.

2. Textile crafting and dying. I want to be able to craft my own regular clothing (hats, clothing, capes, cloaks, hoods, robes, bags....) by using either textiles, leather or pelts. Different materials and different pelts would make the clothing look different. I also want to be able to wear a cape together with heavy armor.

3. Bags. By wearing bags, you could increase your carrying capacity. I also want to be able to craft different bags. I know that there already is a mod for this, but I want it to be an official part of the game (since I play on xbox)

4. Improved wildlife and being able to tame/mount wild animals. I already made a topic about it, so I won't repost the ideas. If you can't find the topic but want to read it, you can ask me for a link)

5. Rebuilding the destroyed parts of Skyrim (again, I made a thread yesterday about it)

6. Being able to "destroy" the Dark Brotherhood anytime I want and being able to destroy the Thieves Guild.

I don't want DLC. It commercializes the game too much.

You don't want new lands, new creatures and a whole new quest-line to play because you think it commercializes the game... :stare:

Well, that's the point. You payed for the game, and I assume you didn't complain that commercialized it too much. :P

I'd like to have the ability to throw things. For example throwing a tankard at someone's face or anything at this draugr that just used the disarm shout. Or, if I find a crossbow on someone, I'd like to be able to throw it into the nearby lake... :)

Well I'm all for paying for the base game and expansions, but begging for DLC will only encourage companies to release a full game in pieces - DLC after DLC. It's happened before.
