The Longbow

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:25 pm

So, I am a longbow fan irl, and Id like to use it in game, as it suits my RP. The trouble is, it becomes useless fairly fast.

The answer to my problem seems to be the stacking of alchemy, enchanting, and smithing. Now Im not looking to break my game here, I just want to be able to use this thing at high lvls.

With all the dmg increase perks in the archery tree, and not counting any enchantments I put on it, Id like to be able to get this things damage to at least above 90, but not over 110. heres my questions:

Can the longbow even be upgraded to legendary, or over? Its not governed by a blacksmith perk, so Im not sure.

What perks do I need to take in alchemy/enchanting? Remember, Im not trying to break the game here and make it have rediculous dmg. Maybe the first 2 or 3 ranks of the power increasing perks?

Any help will be welcomed.

To upgrade the Longbow, you need firewood and to upgrade it to legendary , you might need to use Smithing enchanted gear or some good Smithing potions, dependent or your Smithing skill level.

The Longbow, for me I just upgraded it with the smithing skill's. If you want a longbow to do 90+ damage then I suggest invest in smithing, enchanting, archery since those give you the best perks/abilities/skills for making even a longbow do alot of damage. Im not entirely sure about that since I don't use a longbow now that I have a stronger bow...

(Alchemy) doesn't do anything for base-damage of the longbow unless you plan to use poison on it.

The longbow does not benefit from any smithing perks while the hunting bow benefit of steel making it way stronger with high smithing.
And yes it's pretty stupid, the longbow should be over the hunting bow who should be the weakest one, as it's not really a war weapons but something to shoot deer with.

i like imperial bows, but i like the longbow also, i just use smithing and enchanting, so you can upgrade a longbow and put double enchantments on it and it will work good.

Thank yall for the replies. I did a little testing in a higher lvl charachter.I had one perk in alchemy, and one perk in enchanting.

The highest lvl fortify alchemy/smithing armor I could make was 10%.

The best enchanting potion I could make was 9%, the best smithing potion I could make was 36.

My alchemy and enchanting how ever, were not at 100.

With 100 smithing, 4 pieces of fortify smithing armor of 10%, and fortify smithing potions of 20, 36, and 50,and two dmg perks in archery, I was able to raise a longbow's dmg to 37. Thats not guna cut it past lvl 35 or so, but its a start. I supose in order to stack it higher I'll need to take 3 or so ranks in the first perks of alchemy and enchanting.

Ill let yall know how it goes when I find the time to do this, though it could be a while from now. In the meantime, any continued tips/feedback about the alchemy/enchanting/smithing stack exploit would be helpful.Thanks.
