Okay so i was just looking at the map i got with the game and i've noticed little "x" in quite a few places on the map , i'm wondering if anyone has been to any of them? they could be places of interest or maybe even treasure? what do you guys think?

It is the location of a scripted dragon encounter.

Those are dragon burial mounds. The first time you find those areas, you'll see Alduin flying around and resurrecting the dragon (provided you haven't killed Alduin).
