The marriage system is a complete failure Beth.

Complete waste of time, just nothing but a con job to make people think there was some romance in the game imo. I would like at least some romance dialogue in the next TES game . Are you interested in me , that's it are you kidding me , FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL Bethesda.

Bethesda set out to fail with marriage, they didn't want it to succeed.

I agree, there's like thirty seconds of dialogue and that is it, it's pretty stupid, they shouldn't have even put this into the game. Also the only way to get a divorce is to kill your spouse? Pfff

They do absolutely nothing at all, they can give you some money every now and then if you ask, or bake you apple pies, but that's it.

He's going to have a hard time convinving a girl to give him half her money and make him a sandwich because he's wearing a gaudy necklace.

I don't even know why Bethesda would try, I'm sure glad we missed out on spears for vital gameplay components like this :P

I don't think I could find a girl who could compete with the beauty and grace of Viola.

What's your advice if somebody complains about sword fighting? Go out and beat somebody up with a stick?

The topic of the thread is about playing the Sims... um, marriage in Skyrim, which is a GIMMICK.

So? It was an advertised feature, people should have the right to complain about a feature. Especially if they have a point

While I agree that it could do with some expansion (And a marry somebody else option for if your wife is also a follower who falls in battle) this was never intended as a romance option.

Being married gives you an extra resting bonus when you sleep under the same roof as your spouse. Your spouse also becomes a secondary income, as they open up a market stall in the town you base yourselves in. They give you a split of the profits per day and you can sell stuff to them which you've looted.

It's all good.

If however you want some kind of six mod I'm sure the modding community will service your needs soon ebough... :)

It's a poorly done gimmick. Lets not forget another one of the winners you can marry in this game, http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111114023305/elderscrolls/images/e/e5/DravyneaStoneWeaver.jpg

what bethesda did is add the basics of marriage, im sure they figure that once the CK is out, modders can fix it or enhance it..

I don't get what people want here. Dating quests? Once married, your wife will send you on quests incessantly, but she'll never tell you what she really wants, and you'll invariably fail 80% of the time, forcing you to pass a speech check to apologize. Fail enough of these checks and you must seek out Sheegontakhaf, an ancient dragon divorce lawyer.

IMO, marriage is fine.

Marriage is one of those little extras, like toilets. Think of it as a prop for the imagination.
