the million things i hate about skyrim

Ok, so when i saw that skyrim was coming out last month, i was so excited, and i wanted to play it so bad that I bought the copy and ran all the way back to my place and went to install it. "you need internet to install this game", I was immediately crushed, because I can't have internet in my local area due to the security around where i live...
1- you need internet just to install it
...ok, so after that, I drove 20 minutes out of my way to find an internet access point, and i discovered,
2- there is no reason to actually purchase the hardcopy of the game,
...because it cant install without steam, and you could buy it on steam for the same price or cheaper, so there wasnt even a reason for bethesda to produce a disc version for the pc game or for anyone to ever purchase the cd.
..."ok, whatever. It'll be way worth it!"
3- the game by default ran as a 32 bit 2Gig ram version "ug... im sure i can fix that later"
then, i get on and discover more issues
4- up/down sensitivity is like 0 and left right is like 9, and there isnt an option to change it..
...I tried to get over it, but so many 'little' things kept getting on my nerves, such as
4- how the menus were designed for console and hardly work on pc, and
5- when i disenchant something my game gets stuck
...and then, after awhile of not playing it, i went back because my friend told me that the 1.2 patch came out, and, well that didnt do anything to fix any of these problems, and just added more problems to my game
6- since 1.2, the tab menu doesnt close with tab,
7- also, now most of the buttons dont do what they are assigned to do (i.e. R no longer takes all from containers)
8- and now whenever I try to use the disc to play the game, it just whirrs and clicks instead of just zooming and opening the game

I felt from this game was physically crippling. I knew it wasnt going to be perfect, because this is bethesda, but i atleast expected it to be functional... instead it was so disappointing and shoddily made, the ammount of disappointment was phisically crippling me and making it difficult to even think about the game. I almost threw out the window, then decided i would need to keep it if i wanted to get my $60 back, and compensation for the pain and suffering this game has caused, but really, i dont want my 60$ back, i just want it to WORK. :(

Read the back of the box, "Requires Internet Connection and free steam account to activate"

3- the game by default ran as a 32 bit 2Gig ram version "ug... im sure i can fix that later"

Yes, this requirement is bizarre.

4- up/down sensitivity is like 0 and left right is like 9, and there isnt an option to change it..
...I tried to get over it, but so many 'little' things kept getting on my nerves, such as

Up/Down sensitivity appears to be bound by FPS where left right isn't, you maybe playing on settings that your computer isn't entirely able to handle :(. Hopefully patches in the future will include better hardware optimization for the PC, since currently it appears to be very UN-optimized.

4- how the menus were designed for console and hardly work on pc, and

second number 4 ;). They have already patched in escape to work properly now, so hopefully it'll get better with a patch or two.

5- when i disenchant something my game gets stuck
...and then, after awhile of not playing it, i went back because my friend told me that the 1.2 patch came out, and, well that didnt do anything to fix any of these problems, and just added more problems to my game

Bethesda are aware they may have created more problems with 1.2 and say they will hopefully rectify the new problems next week. 1.2 was meant to fix more severe problems for the PS3 where the game was literally unplayable.

6- since 1.2, the tab menu doesnt close with tab,

Seems to be a bug, might be based on keyboard layouts, I am not sure, it doesn't effect everybody but it does seem to effect quite a few people.

7- also, now most of the buttons dont do what they are assigned to do (i.e. R no longer takes all from containers)

I've had issues like that prior to 1.2 but not after. Does it by chance try to deposit items instead? If so just exit the container, re-enter and hit r again.

8- and now whenever I try to use the disc to play the game, it just whirrs and clicks instead of just zooming and opening the game

Sounds very strange...

Surprisingly, I'd say skyrim is in fact more stable then Oblivion was when it was initially released... as hard as that maybe to believe. Patches sorted the issues out but it would be nice if games these days worked without needing constant patching.

I still think its akward for their games to rely on steams DRM, which renders their cds useless for anything other than collection purposes,

and ive tried everything to fix the up/down, but its no fun to run the game at the point where you cant see enemies until they are rapping your face and cant see bridges until you are ontop of them or went out of your way to get around the obstacle they were covering..

and 2 number 4's bc i forgot to change when i added one of them.. lol
