The next game jam should be with community ideas

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 1:25 am

I think there should be a thread where members just spam their ideas, and then each bethesda game studios team member just reads through the thread and pick the ones they like for their game jam submissions. Then whatever works works =0.

But that...thread would be 90 pages long by the end of the day.
Not to say its not a good idea, because it is, it just would be hard to sort out the good and bad ideas in a thread where everyone who plays Skyrim will be posting. Thats my opinion on this anyway.

Oh, the Werebears! Pages. Pages full of only that suggestion, with nothing else. I feel bad for the poor soul who has to read through that....

There will most likely never be another Skyrim game jam. It was just a week of fun madness after they finished the development of Skyrim, but now they are busy developing DLCs and probably some unannounced project too.

Here's my idea. Keep the open world look of Skyrim, even make it look better. But, add the storylines and RPG elements of older Bioware games, like Dragon Age Origins (my favorite RPG of all time), or Neverwinter Nights or Baldur's Gate where choices actually have consequences on the game's ending/storyline. If you ever played Daggerfall, this was a reality. No game developer writes characters and a storyline as well as Bioware did. That's my opinion of course. Heck, even game like Icewind Dale and the earlier Fallouts were awesome. Add in Troika Games types, and you'd have a winner (Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura or Vampire: The Masquerade, Bloodlines).

if you just replaced the gameplay from skyrim with that of Dragon Age 2, skyrim would be the best game that could ever be created ever =p

Baldur's gate doesn't really have that many game impacting choices...unless I missed something? :stare:

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a Game Jam like the one we saw for Skyrim? Todd introduced it as 'do whatever you want ... But you have to put it in Skyrim'. It's basically a way of saying 'congratulations! After four years we've finally released Skyrim. Have some fun for a week, before we get back to work.' Why would we ruin that opportunity for the developers to celebrate and have some fun?
