The Next Neverwinter

Cryptic mixes MMO with Action RPG. Didn't name it Neverwinter Nights 3 because they're going in a different direction.

Oh... Good. Another classic RPG series is getting the MMO treatment. <_<

It's not NWN for a reason. Just a new D&D title on Neverwinter. No problem with that. Cryptic, on the other hand, is a much bigger problem. MMO shovelware studio if there ever was one.

Wait what ? I thought D&D online was the MMO of dungeons and dragons, can there be TWO D&D MMO′s ? (I refuse to put RPG′s after MMO′s because no MMO can ever be a proper RPG, I can discuss this for ages so don′t tempt me unless you′re prepared for a wall of text).

I′d rather just have a new NWN, I loved the first game and haven′t played the 2nd yet (I intend to though) and a 3rd would probably be even nicer.

Another MMO to play for me, I couldn care less if this will gonna use D&D rules or not, as long as if accomplish what MMO should have (grinding and looting, with at least decent history)

"A majority of the game's action will take place within and in the sewers ..."

I just skimmed the article after that.

Ahh lovely. Another game that will get swept under the rug with all the other mediocre RPGs out there.

I couldn't imagine this game turning out good. I don't know why. This just seems like something that would be horribly unbalanced and awkward to play if it uses the same controls.

Somewhat good news is that they plan to have it mod-able . REALLY bad news is this:
"There's also the possibility, at some point, that there'll be a way to profit off of content you create. "We're not quite sure yet exactly how we'll want to make that work," said Velasquez. "That's something we're still discussing internally. There are a lot of ideas in terms of whether it's like an iTunes-y-like model or something like where they're paying for big packs. That' something we're still deciding as we go. We'll figure that out over the months to come."

It'd be great to have another online platform to create campaigns in DM in, like in the previous Neverwinter Nights game. At the same time, simply from the tacky teaser site alone I highly doubt this is going to play even remotely like the other two.
