The ocular broken?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:23 am

Think I have a problem.... In the quest at Mzulft got the lens and am trying to adjust the beams to line up with the lenses....

After having no luck, I checked out a U-tube vid that shows someone adjusting the light beams and lenses....

Problem is my light beams only go up and down...they do not adjust side to side like in the video. (not rotation of the beams)

In the up position the beams are way off of the lenses..... In the down position, the beams hit the areas between the lens rings and never touch them/ the lens even when I rotate the rings with the lenses in them....

Anyone have any ideas or is this some bug?

The rest of the game plays great, just now something isn't working right and I can't continue the quest.

I did have one other broken quest: Where I had to get into the mage college. The gal at the entrance told me to fire bolt the plate on the ground, I did and all she says is something like "Oh you were going to show me"....
I finally had to use the "unlock" cheat to open the mage college doors.....from there on the game went smoothly.

The beams do only go up and down. Once you have them aligned to the row you want, then you move the rows

Try adjusting the crystal some more with your Flames/Frostbite spells - when done properly, the thee light beams will hit the centers of the roof ring segments that don't have lenses in them. Then when you rotate the rings with the switches, the beams will fall directly onto the lenses.

Ok solved.... Seems the beams only go in the up & down position unless you use the lowest spells of Flames and Frostbite (I was using the higher spells..... Seems someone should have posted this somewhere.... thanx for the help it made me look a bot further.

yeah i ran into that problem... i was using fire/frost spells that apparently weren't considered actually being either (odd... seems like a total oversight) resulting in me thumbing through numerious guides and noticed that the common factor was that people were using the lowest version/power of the spells possible which do work....

they really should have made it so you can use anything that is fire.... hell even hitting it with a fire/ice enchanted weapon for example (or arrow)...

I should have been able to use my fire breath or frost breath on it for the same effect.

Shouldn't this be in the spoilers section?

It is, just look at the two Spell Tomes that are in the room, that will tell you which spells to use.

It's probably just for the sake of simplicity - the simpler you make it, the less chance there is for bugs to screw things up. Those two spells are likely to be known to just about every character, even those that aren't mages, and even characters who haven't leveled up magicka at all will have enough to cast them.

And if you don't know Frostbite, the tome for it is right there in the room.
