The Pelagius Wing and Sheogorath

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 11:00 pm

Have two questions here for you guys who know the lore better then I.

First, why is the Pelagius wing so messed up? Its part of a big palace and i dont understand why it is the way it is.

Second, why did the CoC mantle Sheo? Discussion about whether or not the CoC is on fact Skyrim's Sheo aside. Why would the CoC mantle that lunatic? Seems like a poor decision and a sad end for the CoC.

I think Pelagius was a bit of a hokerr. Maybe future sovereigns of the Blue Palace wanted to distance themselves from his memory?

The CoC mantled Sheogorath because it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Besides, the whole "Martin does jack and gets all the glory in the end" thing kinda sent the CoC around the bend.

Yeah I never played SI and forget much about the end of OB. Would have been much cooler for CoC to mantle Sanguine, he is cool without being a total lunatics

I'd say it has something to do with being transported into nowhere whenever you try to clean up that hallway

Well at least the CoC didnt die but became a daedric prince. It is an honor. But to become shegorath...i do hope the CoC knows what he is talking about.

Daedric Princes are not limited to forms. Mephala can choose whatever gender s/he wishes, and let's not forget Hermaeus Mora's pedobear tentacles

Yeah daedra don't have genders. They just choose to appear particular ways to help them achieve their goals, e.g. Sanguine's two different looks during his quest. So gender/race of the CoC have no bearing. Which is probably why Beth thought it okay to let our past character live on this time.

I still don't think mantling the god of madness was all that great of an end for the CoC tho.

daedra can change gender at will

Prince of madness probably does it several times a day.

It's messed up because everyone thinks it's haunted, and Firebeard keeps it locked up. No one really goes in to clean.

He did it to stop Jyggalag and the Greymarch from destroying the Isles. In return he apparently got immortality and the powers of a Daedric Prince. Doesn't seem such a sad end to me.

Well the sad end is the particular daedra he took over for. Just sad to see the CoC reduced to Nirn's version of the Mad Hatter.

Thanks for the answers tho

I don't see it as sad at all. The CoC becomes an exceedingly powerful immortal, arguably the most Creative Daedric Prince and one who generally enjoys his existence.

CoC?

Champion of Cyrodiil

I like Sheo's accent and when you talk to him, he has a few moments where he sounds sane and quite dark (I guess they used the same voice actor as Lucien Lachance... LOL) So, yea, I think it's better to mantle Sheo, than say Namira... haha

I quite like the semi tragic fate of the CoC. Cheated out of his first heroic quest, he goes missing in an alternate world, loses his mind and ends up a powerful deity. Not quite the ending you'd hope for, but he gets to carry on in a strange new form. It's classic TES, really.

Yeah I get that, I just would have preferred he mantle Sanguine. Sang is fun, entertaining but not quite so bat [censored] crazy.

Pardon my ignorance, but "CoC" and "mantle"? I don't get the meaning from the context. What are you guys talking about?

The COC (Champion Of Cyrodiil) 'mantles' (takes over) Sheogorath's throne in the Shivering Isles expansion. Sheogorath himself is released from his curse (put upon by the other Daedric Princes) and becomes once again, Jyggalag (Prince of Law and Order.)

I don't think anyone wants anything to do with the haunted wing were Pelegius used to live. He was a lunatic, driven mad by a amulet cursed by Potema, which you find out from the last Wolf Queen book.
He was absolutely nuts and homicidelly insane and was called Pelagius The Mad.
His ghost is there also. Saner than he was in life possibley once you complete the quest.
They barely let the maids clean it, and they don't even want to do it for any other reason that it's their job.

That quest is funny. I like Sheogorath.

Strange that Sheogorath admires Septims but hated the Tribunal. Then again he is crazy so perhaps trying to understand him is foolish.

Sheogorath would be most amused by your attempts to understand him.
