I love the elder scrolls V skyrim, yeah the game has its flaws but overall none of them were able to crush my experience. One thing that I noticed which was very heartbreaking was the very small population of non human races in skyrim. My first character was an argonian because I loved how awesome the khajiits and the argonians look, but why make them look so good when you aren't going to include them in your game really? I hear that there are exactly a total of 16 khajiits in skyrim? I could be leave that. I hope in future dlc they will include more non human character and marriage partners so that my argonian won't feel so alone in. This. Iworld.

Skyrim's the home of the Nords, and the first place that humans appeared in Tamriel. It makes sense that there aren't a lot of beast races, just like there wouldn't be many human races in places like Elsweyr or Black Marsh.

Yeah I wan't more beast and Mer races in Skyrim, but I guess it makes sense since Skyrim is cold and no one would want to move there.

Skyrim is cold harsh and has dragons. Khajiits do not like the cold that much, they are only there for profit.

Plus elves arent that welcome, you can find plenty of Dark Elves in Winhelm and I notice more elves in Imperial controlled cities. The one race I really haven't seen much of is Orcs.

It really doesnt.
Skyrim has been a part of the Empire for a very long time.
Vvardenfell was only open for Imperial colonisation for 200 years, yet Morrowind had more racial diversity than Skyrim.

This is a design choice, probably to make the game more accessible or to get more 'Conan' in there, either way I think its a terrible shame. The diversity of races was a strong suit of TES.

The Nords don't usually like the Khajiit in their cities. And Khajiit don't like the cold. The Khajiit that are in Skyrim are (in general) there to make a profit and have no desire to stay.

It makes sense to me. With Skyrim honing an extremely harsh weather climate, the Nords arent very worldly and accomodating for many other races than their own kind. Most of the beast races can find more suitable and comfortable areas to reside in Tamriel, besides Skyrim.

It makes sense to Khajiit... But that does not mean Khajiit has to like it.

Khajiit are a desert race, and dislike cold, much less arctic climates. Profit will however tempt them to non native climates however, though they gripe a lot about it, when you talk to them.

Redguards are also a desert race, and only venture to the arctic for specific reasons. Battle, Hiding, or Hunting seems to be the themes on the Redguard NPC's in Skyrim.

Argonians are a sub-tropical swamp dwelling race. Again arctic climates would not be thier normal environment, but thier a bit less gripey about it then the Khajiit. They tend to gripe more about how they are treated by the Nords.

Elves prefer mid lattitude forested regions. You would find fewer elves in other climates, such as those the Khajiit, Nords, or Argonians thrive in.

Dark Elves thrive in Skyrim because of it's Proximity to Morrowind, and because of the mass of refugess fleeing into Skyrim from Morrowind during the Morrowind story line.

You're in Skyrim... Argonians and Katjiits live faraway. Most elves even have their own separate country.

I mean, how many Egyptians or Mexicans would you expect to find in Sweden???

Then your Khajiit needs to lay off the moon sugar. Because it's fur is actually designed to dissipate heat, not hold heat or insulate from cold. ;)

Khajiits and Argonians aren't native to Skyrim, it makes sense that they would be few and far between. Khajiits are from a desert region, as others have said, most of them are only in Skyrim to make a profit.
As for elves, just look at how most of them are treated. If I were an elf, I wouldn't want to be in Skyrim either.

Except that Khajiit are actually outlawed from the cities. Why the heck would a Khajiit come to Skyrim, the coldest and possibly most inhospitable province, when they know that they'd get turned down at the gates of every city?

As far as Argonians go, we're a very long ways away from Black Marsh, plus the fact that the climate can't be very good for a reptilian race like the Argonians, plus Morrowind's Argonian population was inflated by the the fact that many of them were there as slaves so comparing it to Morrowind is rather unfair.

My guess is that we'll see a lot more racial diversity in the expansion, similar to how Shivering Isles spiced up Oblivion.

Well, the backstory goes that when the empire fell, Elsweyr and Black marsh both seceded from the empire. Black Marsh later invading southern morrowind (mournhold?); Elsweyr getting caught up in the altmeri dominion. I suppose the argument could be made that they could have come over from morrowind, but given how few dark elves there are (c'mon, you'd expect way more dunmer in windhelm, and riften too), do you think they'd bring their slaves with them?

Skyrim is the land of the nords so why would there be nonhuman races?
Oblivion had so many of each race becuase cyrodil is the center of tamriel and Morrowind had so many khajiits and argonians becuase they were slaves

I would say there are 40% Nords in Skyrim and the rest 60% are different races. It is a blind estimate of course but point is that not majority of Skyrim's people are Nords, just the most of them.

How many want to bet that when they make a game set in Elsweyr, it will be less that 45% Khajiit?

It's been a few hundred years since Morrowind guys, diversity is a thing of the past. The empire is facing civil war. Skyrim is already an unwelcoming climate where few beast races would choose to tread, but now the Nords are suspicious of everyone, including other Nords. There are a few interactions you get in the game that show citizens taunting Dunmer in the game and calling them spies.

No one feels welcome right now, so no one stayed or is travelling there. Heck, the Redguards weren't even allowed in the city gate of Whiterun at the beginning of the game, if you recall.
