The problem with Ysolda

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 8:08 pm

I married Ysolda and moved into her house. She only has a single bed. So for the now I am staying at the bannered mare.

My save file is currently 35 hours. All I've been doing is walking around Skyrim, picking ingredients, chopping wood, mining and helping pick crops. I have about 9300 gold, over 100 potions and 25 gold necklaces. I was planning on saving up enough gold to buy the house in Solitude. I did the mission 'The Man Who Cried Wolf' and just delivered the horn to the Shrine of Talos for Elisif. I am in Whiterun and getting ready to head back to Solitude to see if she offers me the house. If she does then all I have to do is save up 25,000 and its mine. Then I can save up for improvements.

I am a bit concerned about a possible bug I just read about on the uesp:

If you are married, your spouse may end up sleeping on the bedroll in the basemant instead of the upstairs bedroom, making it impossible to receive the Lover's Comfort bonus.

If I save before I buy the house, and this bug happens, then will reloading fix it? What I mean is, does the bug only happen if it occurs from the very first night, or can it happen any time? Anyone got any experience with this bug? All I want to do is lie in bed with my wife.

once you buy a house you can talk to her and say that you wantn to move to your house.

then you can hopefully sleep in the same bed.

Also the house in Whiterun has two things going for it :

1) it is cheaper than any other house that i have bought.

2) Lydia has her own room.

I live with Ysolda in Breezehome, and she utilizes the double bed there. The only other bed is reserved for Lydia.

I've gotten thee lover's comfort bonus just by sleeping with the spouse in the house, so it's my experience they don't have to actually sleep with you.

I believe the bug you mention is regarding not getting thee bonus sometimes if you moved them in your house right after the wedding. The way to fix it was to move into their residence and then back to your house.

After the wedding I moved into Ysoldas house and we haven't moved anywhere else (I stay at the bannered mare for roleplaying purposes)

Hopefully if we move to Solitude it will be okay then. Thanks :)

To be honest, I don't really care about the Lover's Comfort bonus, I just want her to lie in bed next to me. We've been married for ages now and because she only has a single bed in her house in Whiterun we haven't slept in the same bed together.

lydia always sat in my room in whiterun... annoying to say the least.. and ysolda had a habit of sitting in that same chair/table next to the main bed instead of sleeping at night.

You could possiblely become a thain of solitude to get your housecarl to move in before you move your wife in. Hopefully the housecarl will take the basemant bed and force your wife to sleep in the master chamber.

I'm having this bed problem with Revyn Sadri (my Dark Elf's husband) too, though usually I just try to get some sleep while he's out at the Cornerclub in the evening, or even while the shop is still open (there usually aren't enough customers to make sleeping a problem). Eventually she'll be able to buy a house with a double bed (she'd like the one in Windhelm but isn't crazy about joining the civil war. I guess I'll have to figure that one out).

I may became Thane first then and see if that helps. If my housecarl is attractive I may flirt with her a little bit first, what Ysolda doesn't know wont hurt her.

Does anyone know a good way of increasing the speech skill? I am currently at 30. I want to get to 100 to add all the perks (eg invest in a store), the good thing about wandering so much, picking ingredients and not using fast travel is that I have about 200 potions and the ingredients for hundreds more. But I walk into a city, sell as many potions as I can and take all the vendors' money, and still have loads of potions to sell!

I've tried the persuade a lot when talking to people but usually fail :(

I like the Markarth home, It looks better and is just as large as the Solitude home, oh and the view.

The problem is that if you marry Ysolda and move into her house then she only has a single bed and you can't sleep in the same bed as her.
