The question about the dungeons.

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:20 am

I don't specifially know how many dungeons are in this game, but I don't really think it matters. How many of you have noticed that most dungeons, maybe a good 90%, were all arranged to have the same tunnel leading back to the start in the name of convenience?

For all of the aesthetic differences between the dungeons, is there really much of a difference between them all? I understand that there may be a dragon wall at the end of a dungeon or a uniquely named boss, but did you ever feel like you were on a bit of a treadmill when it came to the dungeons?

Some of the Nordic ruins get repetitive, but not to the point of annoyance for me.

After spending well over 36 hours lost in Vault34 one time, I shall never ever complain about a mere skyrim dungeon!

I'm confused as to what people refer to when they mention repetitive dungeons. Yes the wall textures are similar and there's lots of things that look like underground tunnels. I don't know if people expect completely unique textures, designs, and shapes? I guess I just don't pay attention to it enough. But it's not as if dungeon layouts are copy/pasted.

Let me tell you, after having to backtrack through EVERY flippin' dungeon from Daggerfall forward, just to get OUT of them to get on with quests, selling loot etc. I was MORE than pleased to find out that we have a reasonably convenient way to get out of Skyrim's dungeons. And while Skyrim's dungeons aren't as varied as Daggerfall's were (due to the change in randomizing I guess), I still don't find them seriously repetitive.

To a degree, they do. But you can't expect every cave castle and catacomb to be different. A cave is a cave, it's formed by water, which doesn't have aesthetic qualities in mind.
