The Radar Issue

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:02 pm

Hello,

I'm fairly new to the forums here, heh. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not the developers are looking into fixing or adjusting the way the radar works in the game.

Right now I believe the radar is set to an "always on'" mode, instead of tracking people only when they fire or something like that. Due to that completely killing alot of flanking tactics will that change at the game's release date??

It's not always on. You show up on radar if you sprint while near an enemy, fire an unsilenced weapon, are spotted by an enemy, or an enemy Operative Comms Hacks one of your teammates.

So you basically only show up if you make noise or have someone looking at you. There are ways of getting around that though. Suppressors for your guns, a Silent Running skill, etc.

If I'm not mistaken the radar shows people you should have detected, like an ennemy passing true you're vision etc.

Thanks for the input people! I was just worried because I saw this video, which was fairly old, in which this guy describes a version of the game he got to play, and in it the radar never really shut off.

I hope this game is guna be as fun as advertised.

SDKLAFJSLAFJLDFKJ LAYMAN IGNORANCE MAKE RAM ANGRY.

Bursts of rage aside, you only show up on the radar if:
- You are seen by an enemy.
- You sprint within earshot of an enemy. Silent Running counteracts this.
- You fire within earshot of an enemy. Supressors counteract this.
- An enemy operative hacks an incapped teammate, revealing the locations of your whole team.

@Sanch3z: Yes, where the top part of the radar is where you are currently facing.

Thanks for the reply. I disagree with you about the ignorance bit though. Since when is it ignorant to ask for information?

Sorry, it's just that the newest wave of Layman forumers have kept the forum buzzing with questions that could be easily answered with the Brink Bible.

Which reminds me of our welcome tradition. It's died off due to too many new people and not enough welcomers.

Here is your Welcome Turtle :turtle: and your personal copy of the Brink Bible is the orange link in my sig.

I know it's nice to feel unique with your own choice of custom font, but that is really hard to read. So hard for me personally, that I stopped trying... just saying. The default fonts were chosen for a reason... so that most everyone has no trouble reading what others post. Ultimately it's SD's fault for allowing that particular font I suppose. You should however ask yourself what is more important; your message getting across to others or your personal need to see your own words stand out from everyone else.

Aye, I agree with this. You're better off tinting your text a light color. Some of them are pretty cool.

Also to add on, the radar is extremely vague. So even if you do spot enemies on it, it doesn't give you a clear idea of where they are on the map.
