I've always wondered this. Is it for variation of weapon type, a genuine interest in spears, or is it purely because they were in Morrowind and haven't been in an ES game since?

For myself i would say, more weapon variation, the weapon variation in Skyrim is really, really low so more weapons the better imo.

Weapon variation really...Skyrim could really use it.
