The Return To Skyrim! WTF! (You tell me if I'm right)

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:41 pm

Before I get into the meat and bones of my thread I just want to flesh out a bit of history first:

Being a ES fan I bought Skyrim on release date and, goodness me was I Wonderfully Disappointed!

'Wonderful' because the game is so beautiful and rich in detail and lore, and vibrant in life and animation. But 'Disappointed' because the game had flaws which ruined my enjoyment and playability of the game.

The vast amount of glitches and issues ranging from textures not loading, dragons flying backwards, extreme lag in specifics areas, broken quests, broken follower levelling, crashes etc etc the lists goes on and on. I much as I love ES RPGs it was too frustrating for me. The bad just outweighed the good, so I left Skyrim on the shelf to return to it another day....

Well that was 6 months ago and I've just re-started (from the beginning) playing Skyrim again recently and I have to say, I am surprised. Beth have certainly fixed ALOT of issues that plagued the game, AND added some other surprises which I didn't expect. And I must say that I am now playing the game that I was always hoping for 6 months ago. Fantastic. Well done Bethesda.

Now I havn't been following these forums recently and just wanted to add what I've noticed in the 'fixes' and 'updates' that they added into the game, please correct me if Im wrong:

1. The mounted combat. WOW what a great addition!

2. Underwater. Its now blurry underwater when it use to have a different effect. Am I right?

3. Dragons no longer fly around forever in the sky without landing. Much better

4. Have they toned down Master difficulty? It seems easier now

5. New and better Kill animations for archers and magic users. Am I right? It seems like there is alot more animation now, thats great.

6. AI. has the AI on enemies been tweaked, they seem a little more intelligent.

What other updates have they added!?

I'm so glad Beth fixed their broken game, now I can enjoy Skyrim without the frustrations. One final wish if for the Follower levelling to be fixed :)

Thanks for addressing the issues Beth :)

I know dragons flying backwards got fixed, and mounted combat and archer killmoves are fairly recent (mounted combat introduced to xbox only a couple of days ago). Not sure about the others.

Glad you've been reunited with a truly great game, though! Just in time for DLC too.

Well, dawnguard is coming this month.. And it seems to be 70% fan requested features set up with a good story.

So imagine all the fixes and features you have got so far doubled by the end of the month.

Also search up "skyrim game jam" on youtube. Over the past 3 months they have been slowly adding the features from that video in free updates and are going to continue doing so

To level your follower zap them with the Wabajack.
There is still a lot of glitches but most have gone. Everytime they make a new patch I find a few more glitches and a few have gone.

I can't be sure on this, but I am fairly convinced I have heard more scripted conversations on entering areas for the first time than before the patches. Might just be I was too busy gawking to notice on the first playthrough, though.

The most important fixes for me were related to cleanups. My game had ash piles everywhere, and so much nirnroot glow I was expecting a Pip-Boy radiation warning to flash up at times. Thank you for sorting those out.

I actually was like this up until patch 1.05. I had such a Bethesda backlog at the current time I just didn't get around to Skyrim until I finally finished Morrowind on the PC. Well, I shouldn't say finished, I finally beat it with one character.

Now have 3 Skyrim characters, and can't wait for the DLC.

Yeah, I thought I'd heard more scripted convos too, but I can't be sure.
