And oh yes, same six marriage is easiest with the cheating method.
a same six marriage strategy really opens up your game play, because it makes the list of all 62 suitor NPCs available for marriage, PLUS OTHER NPCS WHO WERE NOT DESIGNATED BY THE GAME AS MARRIAGE SUITORS. So use this cheat with caution. Because it's quite possible you could end up marrying a suitor who the DB quest line wants executed for example. Or break a Thieves Guild quest because you can't steal a specific item from that NPC (since marrying them gives you automatic ownership of everything they own). Such conflicts might even cause the game to crash, so proceed at your own peril. If you go the cheating route, consider these additional NPCs in your travels:Dungeon Related Followers
You'll meet these 2 NPCs in your dungeon crawls. They can become your travelling buddies (and spouses with cheats), provided they survive after you clear the dungeons they live in:
- Illia is a powerful female mage in the Rift hold whom you meet in the Repentance dugeon quest. When you first enter the Darklight Tower dungeon, you'll come across the scene of a horrific murder. Refrain from transforming into Van Helsing and going on a vigilante killing spree, so you can meet her--the sole perpetrator at the crime scene. If she lives, she'll come in extremely handy as a travelling companion (and spouse with cheats). She also specialzies in frost magic.
- Golldir is a male Nord warrior in the Whiterun hold whom you meet in the Ancestral Worship quest in Hillgrund's Tomb. Oh yes--after helping him, try not to p.i.s.s him off by tomb raiding his family crypt and he might actually decide to join you. His specialties are one-handed, heavy armor, archery and block.
These 2 NPC types can become your followers (spouses with cheats) after completing certain DB quest lines:
- DB assassins (male & and female). These new initiates will show up at the DB clubhouse once you become the DB Master Assassin there.
- Cicero the DB Village Fool--unquestionably my most favorite paranoid schizophernic and psychopath NPC. Resist the demonic urge to kill this dark jester during the DB quest line for 3 specific reasons: 1) you'll get a good laugh at the end of the DB quest line. 2) you'll be able to marry him if your're crazy enough to do so, and 3) Cicero makes the paradigm companion for the Boethia Daedric quest.
The College of Winterhold Followers
This wizard will become your follower (spouse with cheats) once you join the College and complete his Radiant quest
J'Zargo--a kadjit sorcerer skilled in Destruction, Illusion, One handed and Heavy Armor
Quest Related Followers
These will become followers (spouses with cheats) if you complete their quests and they survive:
- Adelaisa Vendicci--female High Elf who agrees to follow you after you complete Rise in the East Side quest. Speak with Orthus Endario at the East Empire trading company docks in Windhelm to trigger the quest. Adelaisa is skilled in Alchemy, Enchanting, Smithing and Speechcraft.
- Aranea--a female Dunmer priestess Mage skilled in the 4 schools of Magic. Meet her at the Shrine of Azura and complete the Dark Star Daedric quest before she becomes a follower.
- Eola--a female Redguard you meet in the Taste of Death Daedric quest in Markath. Eola's a skilled Nightblade in Destruction, Alteration, one-handed and Sneak. She's also an accomplished cannibal and devout follower of Namira. Note : the success in completing this quest will require the taboo ritual of performing cannibalisim. Eola won't join you as a follower (or potential spouse) unless you honor Namira first....
- Erandur--a male priest and powerful magician you meet in Dawnstar. He makes a formidable traveling ally (and potential spouse) ---assuming you didn't murder him when completing the Waking Nightmare Daedric quest that is.
Complete the Cursed Tribe Daedric quest for these 3 followers to join:
- Lob--male Orc, skilled Archer, one-handed, light armor, Block and Sneak
- Ogol--male Orc, skilled Warrior, one-handed, heavy armor, archery, and Sneak
- Ugor--male Orc, skilled Archer, one-handed, light armor, Block and Sneak
These 2 NPCs will follow you once you complete their favor quests:
- Ahtar the Jailer--a male Redguard Knight in Solitude's Castle Dour jail in Haafingar hold. Specializes in two handed, heavy armor, archery and block.
- Sven--a male Nord at Riverwood in the Whiterun hold. He doubles as the Riverwood minstrel and lumberjack. Specializes in Alchemy, Enchanting, Smithing, and Archery.
GETTING A SPOUSE VIA CHEATING METHOD:
Approach your potential suitor and open the console cheat menu. Click on suitor to select them with your mouse and type these 2 commands:
addtofaction 19809 1
setrelationshiprank player 4
Close the console and speak to the suitor NPC and marry them.
As mentioned above, this is the quickest way to approach a same six marriage strategy, particularly if the potential same six partner is extremely wealthy/has their own shop/is a trainer. So you can afford to discriminate when picking a suitor, because there are A LOT of rich NPCs (not designated by the game as marriage NPCs) who live in small mini mansions in each city's major holds. Most of these live just outside the Blue Palace in Solitude…

GETTING A SPOUSE VIA NON-CHEATING METHOD:
When in town, I'd recommend scoping out the population for potential townsfolk you're attracted (be it for physical, personal or monetary reasons). Then wear the amulet, introduce yourself. If you've already met them, chatting them up should be a lot easier the second time around (assuming you didn't kill them on a quest, kill them from self defense, or get caught stealing by them).
A description of game designated potential suitors and where to find them follows. Make sure you're wearing Mara's amulet first. Get it from the Mara priest in Riften before attempting to strike up a conversation with a particular piece of eye candy when in town (or approach a non hostile NPC in the wilderness).
I categorized the potential NPC spouses you can marry into 2 classes: the Non Adventuring and Adventuring types. Regardless of which type you choose to court as a potential spouse, make sure you're wearing Mara's amulet when addressing these potential spouses.
Non-Adventuring Type Spouses with a fixed town occupation (i.e. homebody types who never leave the town). The typical pre-requisite to marriage for these home maker types is completing a favor quest of some sort. This category includes the following:
If seeking Male suitors:
1). Mine Owners--actually, there is only one of this proprietor kind in all Skyrim. So if you've got a warrior based/battlemage type looking to save some coin on crafting your own weapons and armor, then seek out a bloke by the name of Ainethach. He's the lonely male Breton living at Karthwasten in the Reach hold. You gold diggers might want to make note of this fact as well. Perform his favor quest to get access to all the resources in his mine property.
2). Miners--6 total: Sondas Drenim, a Dark Elf at Dark Water Crossing in the Eastmarch reach; Roggi Knot-Beard, a male Nord at Kynesgrove in the Eastmarch reach; Perth, a male Breton at the Soljund's Sinkhole in the Reach hold; Omluag, a male Breton who runs the Markarth Smelter; Gat Gro-shargakh, a male Orc; and Pavo Attius, a male Imperial. These last 2 work at the Left Hand/Kolskeggr Mine in the Reach hold. Complete Pavo Attius favor before either Pavos or Gat will consider you. Complete separate favor quests for the other 4 before they'll consider you.
3). Blacksmiths--3 total: 2 male Nords and 1 Orcs. The Nord smiths are Balimund in Riften, and Filnjar at Shor's Stone. Both Nord smiths live in the Rift hold. The Orc smith Moth gro-Bagol lives at Markarth in the Reach. He runs the Blacksmith Shed forge which is inside Understone Keep (to the right of the Keep throne room) in Markarth. Complete favor quests for Balimund and Moth gro-Bagol, and a Miscellaneous Quest for Filnjar to win them over.
4). Housecarls--2 total: Argis a Nord male the Bulwark in Markarth (buy Vlindrel Hall) and Calder another Nord male at Windhelm (buy Hjerim). Become Thanes of their respective city holds as a pre-nuptial.
5). Drunkards--1 total: Cosnach, a male Breton in Markarth (and the only marriage NPC who is a designated lush in all Skyrim). Cosnach hangs around the Silver-Blood Inn, and will happily drink a tankard of well--just about anything. This makes him an exceptional suitor because of his unique mating ritual requirement: he literally requires his future spouse beat his brains out in a drunken tavern brawl. Ladies (and gents) you've now been forewarned. The Gloves of the Pugilist gauntlets are highly recommended for those who desire a quick taming of this most bellicose lout.
6). Fishermen--1 total: Derkeethus male Argonian at Dark Water crossing in the Eastmarch Reach. The only marriage available fisherman NPC in Skyrim. Don't fail in rescuing the poor SOB from certain death---he can't be wrapped around your little finger from sheer gratitude otherwise. Note: don't confuse Derkeethus with a DB mark called Deekus, a hermit fisherman at Helga's Folly.
7). Citizens--1 total: Octieve San, male Breton in Solitude. Complete the favor quest for this most unremarkable--and completely forgetable--man.
8). Alchemists--1 total: Quintus Navale, a male Imperial Alchemist who runs the White Phial in Windhelm. Perform a side quest as pre-requisite to marriage.
9). Merchants--1 total: Revyin Sadri the male Dark Elf proprietor of Sadri's Used Wares in Windhelm. Complete his favor quest to gain access to his store goods. Revyin will also move into Hjerim once you buy the mansion as a Thane of Windhelm.
10). Meadery Worker--1 total: Romlyn Dreth, the Dark Elf worker at Black Briar Meadery in Riften. Complete his favor quest.
11). Dockworker--1 total: Scouts-Many-Marshes, a male Argonian at Windhelm in the Eastmarch hold. Find him at the Argonian Assemblage and complete his favor quest.
12). Assistant Inn Keeper--1 total: Sorex Vinius, a male Imperial worker at the Solitude Winking Skeever. Complete his favor quest first.
13). Inn Keeper--1 total: Wilhelm, a male Nord and proprietor of the Vilemyr Inn at Ivarstead in the Rift hold. The inn is a solid investment as an adventurer. But you must complete a bizarre dungeon crawling quest that involves a paranoid schizophrenic apparition first.
14). Students--1 total: Onmund, a male Nord at Winterhold in the Winterhold College. Complete his requested favor to earn him as a spouse.
Yes and even:
15). Beggars--1 total: a solitary male Nord aka Angrenor Once-Honored. Angrenor hangs out at Candlehearth Hall in Windhelm. Pity the poor bastard and rescue him from poverty by allowing him share your humble abode.
If seeking Female suitors:
The first 9 categories in the list are exclusive occupations to females only (i.e. have no male counterparts to the male occupation titles mentioned in the list above):
1) Lumberjack--1 total: This is Aeri, a Nord and the only female lumberjack in Skyrim. She works at Anga's Mill in the Pale Hold. Perform an easy favor task first to win her hand.
2) Farmers--1 total: Seek Avrusa Sarethi, the only marriage eligible NPC farmer in Skyrim. She's the female Dark Elf who owns the Sarethi Farm to the NE of Treva's Watch in the Rift. Complete her favor quest to win her hand. Incidentally, this quest will also involve a very familiar quest ingredient for those of you who played Oblivion. Getting married to her is one sure way of guaranteeing easy access to this reagent which makes excellent stealth potions……
3) Priestess--3 total: Priestess: a Redguard, Nord, and Imperial. All 3 demi-goddess wannabes live at the Temple of Diabella in Markarth. Complete their faction quests to win them over.
4) Mage--1 total: Dravynea the Stoneweaver, a Dark Elf and the only female Mage suitor in Skyrim. Seek her in the Eastmarch hold in Kynesgrove and complete a favor quest.
5) Miller--2 total: of these: an Imperial by the name of Gilfre, and a Nord by the name of Temba Widearm. Seek Gilfre at Mixwater Mill in the Eastmarch. Find Temba at Ivarstead in the Rift. Complete favors for both as a marriage pre-requisite.
6) Adventurer--1 total: this is the one and only Mjoll the Lioness, that strikingly statuesque Nord female warrior you meet around town in Riften. Word of caution: she possesses an increasingly dim view of the Thieves Guild, its operations and reputation in Riften. So it may be wise (and far less complicated) to complete the Thieves Guild quests prior to performing her favor quest to woo her.
7) Tailor--1 total: Taarie is an Altmer High Elf and only female tailor in Skyrim. Find her in the Haafingar hold in Solitude. She runs the Radiant Raiments, a lucrative store operation which has prompted the Thieves Guild to shadowmark it as one of its favorite ATMs for loot in City Influence quests. Taarie is yet another NPC you may want to reconsider marrying, if you're bent on becoming the Thieves Guild master.
8) Alchemist--1 total: Muiri the female Breton who is the assistant Alchemist to that Hagraven witch proprietor of the Hag's Cure in Markarth. Complete one of the DB quests before she'll consider giving her hand in marriage. Note: Muiri is an extremely attractive marriage prospect, because she'll inherit the establishment upon her boss's demise--be this an untimely death by random game design, or otherwise from pre-meditated, sinister forces…
9) Busybody--1 total: Yes. Busybody. I too was amazed by this unique occupation specialty title which is assigned to an equally unique number of NPCs (exactly one). Seek Viola Giordano, the elderly (and well to do) female Imperial who lives at Windhelm, in the Eastmarch. You can typically find her in Candlehearth Hall Inn when she's not at home. Begin Revyn Sadri's favor quest, but rat him out to Viola to get into her good graces (and bank account and mansion).
Note: if Viola's name already sounds familiar--or you're very acquainted with the layout of her affluent home--then you're well on your way to becoming the next Thieves Guild master. But word of caution: Viola is yet another NPC to reconsider wooing, should your character be afflicted with sticky fingers syndrome, or just enjoys frequent 5 finger discounts. Should your character choose to pursue a life of the shadows, consider completing all Thief Guild quests BEFORE attempting to marry this NPC. It's the soundest pre-nuptial strategy to consider in the long run.
This way, you'll be able to justify having to buy back all your home goods as a Guild member. Otherwise, you'll wind up looking like the complete Village Idiot--when having to steal from yourself as the Thieves Guild Master. Assuming the game actually allows you to experience this stupid dilemma that is.….
10) Citizens--1 total: a young female Nord by the name of Ysolda who has a house in Whiterun. She has aspirations on becoming a prosperous merchant, and so typically hangs out in the market area (this is the female Nord who keeps going on about becoming her own business tycoon someday). Complete her favor quest to gain full access her modest (and loot impoverished) home.
11) Blacksmiths--1 total: The female Orc Ghorza gro-Bagol, who is Moth gro-Bagol's sister. Ghorza also works at the Understone, but her forge is located just outside the Keep.
12) Students--1 total: Brelyna Maryon, a female Dark Elf in Winterhold at the Winterhold College. Complete her requested favors to woo her as a spouse.
13) Merchants--2 total: Grelka, a female Nord in Riften, and Camilla Valerius, a female Imperial in Riverside. Grelka is one of the general store vendors in the Riften marketplace. Camilla is the sister of Lucan Valerius, the Riverwood Trader proprietor in Whiterun hold who gives you the Golden Claw quest. You'll probably meet Camilla after your escape from Helgen (if you opted to follow Hadvar, the Imperial soldier out of Helgen). Complete her brother's quest to win Camilla's favor.
14) Miners--1 total: female Nord named Sylgja at Shor's Stone in the Rift hold. Do her favor quest to marry her.
15) Dockworker--1 total: Shahvee, a female Argonian at Windhelm in the Eastmarch hold. Find her at the Argonian Assemblage and complete her favor quest.
16) Housecarls--3 Nord females: Iona who lives in Riften, Jordis the Sword Maiden in Solidtude (buy Proudspire manor) and Lydia in Whiterun (buy Breezehome and when she is a follower). To marry them, you must first become Thanes of their respective city holds. Move into Honeyside with Iona (once she becomes a follower). Find Lydia at Dragonsreach (before becoming Thane of Whiterun).
Adventuring Type Spouses (i.e. types that can leave the town as your followers)
These suitors include just about anyone who you can convince or hire to become a follower on your quests/adventures. I'd recommend pick up followers you encounter in the holds/villages or even in the wilderness in your dungeon crawls. Have them to accompany you on a few minor quests, to see if you fighting skills are compatible and/or compliment your own fighting style. This is also a great way to double your carrying capacity, as you'll have a human pack mule who'll carry your junk. Note: Using them to carry all your healing, cure, mantra regenerating, and invisibility potions (while you carry the remaining crap) is probably a good tactic. It allows them to automatically heal themselves when injured in battle without any intervention from you. Finally, the obvious advantage to eventually marrying one of these types, is that you'll get the lover's comfort boost from sleeping near your spouse when adventuring in the wilderness. But the downside is that they can be killed if you don't care for them in combat. So factor this before getting hitched!
If seeking female suitors:
1). Companions--3 total: Ria a female Imperial, Aela the Huntress, and Njada Stonearm both female Nords. Find all 3 at Whiterun in Jarrvaskr. Complete the Companions quests before proposing marriage.
2). Housecarls--3 total. Iona, Jordis, Lydia. See the non-adventuring NPC spouse list for these 3
3). Hirelings--1 total: Janessa a female Dark Elf and the only female Hireling in Skyrim. Meet her at the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun. Hire her at least once in order to propose.
4). Warriors--2 total: Borghak the Steel Heart, a female Orc and Uthgerd, a female Nord. Find Borghak at Mor Khazgur in the Reach hold and convince her to become your follower. Uthgerd-- like Cosnach--also possess a peculiar fetish for brawling with her prospective lovers first. So beat the crap out of her at the Bannered Mare, and she'll become your loyal soul mate forever.
If seeking Male suitors:
1). Companions--4 total: Athis a male Dark Elf, Farkas, Tolvar and Vilkas, all male Nords. Find all 4 at Jorrvaskr in Whiterun and complete the Companion quests before popping the question.
2). Housecarls--2 total: Argis and Calder. See the non-adventuring NPC spouse list for these 2.
3). Hirelings--5 total: Erik the Slayer, a male Nord in Rorikstead in the Reach hold; Marcurio a male Imperial who hangs out at the Riften Bee and Barb; Stenvar, a male Nord at Windhelm at Candlehearth Hall; and Vorstag, a male Nord at the Silver-Blood Inn in Markarth. Hire Marcurio, Stenvar and Vorstag at least once before proposing. Erik will consider becoming your hireling (and subsequent marriage proposal) after you complete his favor quest.
4). Warriors--2 total: Benor, male Nord at Morthal in the Hjaalmarch hold; and Gorbash the Iron Hand at Dushnikh Yal in the Reach hold. Beat the crap out of the former suitor to propose, and convince the latter to become your follower.
