Exactly.

PLUS, the people who have been basically Beta testing this game since Day 1 deserve it more then you. We're the ones honestly interested in trying to get this game fixed properly and help it succeed. If you can't get on the Internet at least ONCE a week, it was your own fault bro you obviously didn't care about the game that much to keep yourself UPDATED. Pure and simple...

How are you doing this? Arguing among people on the forums about stuff that never will happen. Its Splash Damages "Bug" team that works on getting stuff fixed not you.

I see the Ops point not everyone stalks the forums about information. It was a silent LDC release I'm sorry for the Op I never got the LDC free either. I understand not everyone goes on line all the time like some. It was nice that it was free. Splash did it to get people back online.

Uhh "bro" i was playing the game since day 1, thanks for asking. And its summer, get a life. I shouldn't "have" to jump on the brink website once a week. In retrospect, I should have returned my game the first week after release like everyone else, instead I did the "I'm sure they'll fix it" card. Even when the DLC was pushed back, I was like "it's worth the wait, pretty nice looking make up dlc". Now I need to keep funding a [censored] game that doesn't look like its getting fixed in any hurry, when I was promised a makeup dlc months ago?

Edit: And a link to the original promise of a free dlc. http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/13/brink-updates-now-live-free-dlc/

dont be such a cheap ass. if you dont want 2 come on here every week to check then pay the $10 dlc charge. I dont know how cheaper the dlc can be. Its not our fault u wernt even on the game once the ENTIRE 2 weeks. usually people r on there xbox/ps3/PC AT LEAST once every week. Amusing most people r on everyday or every other day and you weren't on brink once the entire 2 weeks deal with it and just hand over the $10 bill

You also could of just...ya know, checked the marketplace. :P I'm sure you were playing games on whatever system you're playing Brink on so it's not that far of a leap to go check the market every now and again. Heck, even when I'm not waiting for DLC I tend to check out the market place once a week. Not necessarily for every game I own, but I still check it out.

Because an occasional check in the marketplace is TOO HARD!
Wah.

They made it known everywhere it was only two weeks, EVERYWHERE.

Your fault. Not my problem.

I agree. First off the dlc was free for 2 weeks. Then unexpectedly the developers release the pre-order dlc that fans have been asking for (they are listening to their community). So if you buy them both, they cost $4 dollars total. If you didn't get agents of change while it was free, getting everything now will cost you $14 dollars. That is a waaaayyyy better offer than say CoD, considering if you are one of the morons that didn't realize that if you purchased all of the dlc that is availible right now. You would have spent $60 dollars. That is equal to the freakin' game, and that's only maps. Can I say RIP OFF? So that is why Brink.......RULEZ!!!!!

How the mighty have fallen.

Really? This wasn't that advertised. I didn't see any news of this except for on these forums, especially since it was supposed to come out two months before it actually did. Pretty much throwing everyone who didn't frequent these forums out of the loop.

Though, when it did come out it didn't make any front page markings on the market place, not that I remember. It was just at the forefront of the new add-ons spot.

But seriously, no one should be yelling at this guy for missing out on something that wasn't obvious. I'm sure he was like most who isn't stupidly devoted to the game and put it down and waited for the fixes and DLC to come out, but when they didn't, he probably got caught up with other things.

This isnt the first time DLC has had an exclusivity period, it isnt the first time DLC has switched from paid to free, so DLC can go the other way.

Sony & Microsoft will probably have issues with DLC being free, obviously preferring developers to release paid for DLC so that said company gets money.

Nothing you say on the forums will make it come back to free, you just missed it. This was (as I remember it) advertised by SD close to the release date.

P.S. Microsoft decide what goes on the front pages

It's talked about (not advertised) all over the place. A simple google search of "Brink DLC" will show you a ton of results with all the news you need.
I feel no pity for this guy.

1. If he wasn't devoted enough to do a simple check on the forums or a quick Google search from time-to-time, [I DON'T THINK] he really has much right to [censored] about it here.
2. He spent the equivalent amount of time logging on to the forums, coming to the General Discussion area, writing up a whole new topic as we would have simply checking...

I don't feel bad for him. He had all the resources available to him and he didn't once check... He has no justification for blaming SD, Microsoft/Sony nor Bethesda for this issue. REGARDLESS of if he is or not.
I think once someone has done the bare minimum they can, THEN they have some right to [censored]... He didn't... But he was QUICK to complain.

I mean, it's not like he knew that there was supposed to be DLC, you know, released around June? And it's not like SD totally screwed the pooch on that and ended up putting it out two months after the fact where everyone had kind of given up on the game except for really loyal players. To know about this DLC, it was almost required to check up on it daily just to hear something about it.

You can dislike his attitude or not, I'm just saying you shouldn't be aggressive towards his ignorance on this matter because this DLC wasn't really celebrated or announced. And the game itself doesn't really tell you, though it can if you check it. (Though it hadn't been updated in months.) Not to mention it was LATE.

Though, I partially blame this on Brink's interface. That sliding news updater on games like Lost Planet, and Red Dead and even Splinter Cell Conviction that update you on such things. Or even simple title text like on Rockband and Gears of War.

And also, apparently he did check. But unfortunately for him checked just a bit too late.

I wasn't being aggressive, honestly. I simply don't feel for him.

A simple check even two weeks ago, three weeks ago... One check a MONTH is all it takes. If he cares enough to [censored] about it - he should care enough to check it THAT LITTLE. That's all I'm saying.

Checking daily is a great exaggeration on your part. He could have easily kept up to date without coming to check the forums regularly... And even THAT isn't much to ask. Hop online, scan through General Discussion (or, again, Google it or go to Xbox Marketplace) if you don't see anything, it isn't there. Bam, you have used exactly 5 minutes of your time to check... If you do this even once a week, he'd have known...

But my main point is in underlined above.

DLC was free for 2 weeks was great, better than the $20 i spent on Crysis2, i can't even play their dlc's.

Most games dont give free dlc's, so it was a great gesture to those of us who have been playing since day. I also have no quarrels with the release of the pre-order items either, in the business world that can only be considered good business. The special people have had a good few months being special, but also now get the chance to get the other pre-order bonus', because they only got 1 style, not all.

Plus knowing that it is only since new dlc (agents of change) and free Steam weekend that the playerbase picked up a bit, and they probably know these "new" players will be wanting "new" content soon, so this is a good way to seem like a company thats on its toes and trying to please.

If you didn't get the DLC in the free 2 week time period, theres a new dlc especially for you released next week "Kleenex blow ya nose [censored]" gives free tissues and tampons out to those who cry and bleed needlessly

they gave the community ample time to know when the DLC was going to FINALLY drop, and what the terms were. It was also posted on all the major gaming sites and was in your marketplace. So no arguement really has any wait as far as the 2 week window of Free-dom.
However OP, I find it a bit strange that you are so put off and passionate about how you were screwed by this. This DLC means that much to you, but you never kept up on it's progress? You knew the delayed dates, but not the actual drop date? You obviosly went weeks without playing or checking in on the stats site. Maybe I'm a bit odd, but when I am involved with a game, I try to keep abriast :hubbahubba: of what is going on with the game and in the community.

The 2 weeks of free download were announced (way before the release date) on not only the Brink site but on like every other game news website, facebook, twitter, the main screen of PSN/XBL and a lot of Brink topics at forums. So all the blame goes to yourself if you missed it.

You had PLENTY of time to find out this information before the DLC was released. Its your own fault. Get over it. All you had to do was check the forums once or twice, in late July, to get the release date info. You DID NOT have to stalk the forums to know that it was only free for two weeks. That info has been known for most of the waiting period. I agree its [censored] to only make it free for 2 weeks but hey, why should people be able to go get the game cheap, after not buying at launch or before the DLC launch, and get the DLC for free? They didn't suffer through the problems. Also, by your statement, you were around in june and july and knew of the delays so you obviously knew about the free for 2 weeks. Dont cry here because YOU [censored] up.

Plenty of time?! Really?! We only knew it was coming soon cause of the added achievements and even then they barely announced it a week prior. They kept it on the downlow so people would miss it. I feel bad for the op, and all you clowns talking smack need to learn a little sympathy.

Sorry you missed it, but don't get mad at Splash Damage. They can make their DLC whatever price they want.
EDIT: Like what I tell people who complain about COD map pack prices, "They made it, they decide how much they charge. If you aren't willing to pay that much, then you don't want it that much, so stop complaining."
