The Techno Thread

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 8:40 pm

Hey. So far I have seen a Metal Thread, A 'labled as' metal Thread, and a couple others, and I think it is time for an Electronic music thread.
What type of music in the techno ommunity do you like?

This includes, but is not imited to:
Hardstyle,
Trance,
Dubstep,
NUstyle,
Freestyle,
Industrial
and any others!

RESTRICTED:
Hip-hop with electronic background music unless it i proven to be made with a techno artist.
Electronic sounds with a singer that dominates over the music to the point of being near inaudible. (example: "One Trick Pony" by Deadmau5)

On another note: Fave steak? how do you like it cooked?(dont be afraid to be specific NOTE: MUST ALSO INCLUDE THE FIRST PORTION OF THE TOPIC AS TOPICS GO ASTRAY WHEN SOMEONE POSTS ABOUT ONLY FOOD. plus, this part is optional.)

I like a nice thick New York strip, medium well to well done :flamethrower:

I'll admit that I wasn't into this genre of music until very recently. So any suggestions you guys could make would be very appreciated. My friend put me through something of a "crash course" of what's what and my favorites so far are:

Deadmau5
Afrojack
David Guetta
Armin Van Buuren

Same here. So far, the only two I have found thaty I like are Combichrist and Wumpscut. If anyone can recommend something along those lines, I would be eternally (or at least momentarily) grateful.

Also, it's all about the ribeye. Med rare or med. Filet is also good, same temp.

Can't stand techno, but I do love me some industrial!

Ramnstien;
Skinny Puppy;
Nine Inch Nails;
The Killing Joke;
Big Black;
Joy Division has some industrial sounding songs.

Things of that nature.

17 year old wunderkid Madeon. I don't know what I'm mesmerized by more, the song, or watching him mix in the video.

Mashed from 39 songs, amazing.

I don't see why Hip Hop should be excluded. It's technically made in just the same way as other electronic music, it has grown hand-in-hand with Electro, House, etc. And hell, most commercial Hip Hop today has shed itself of its soul/funk roots and takes more cues from Eurodance than ever.

It is more of the fact that most are not actual techno artists, but just something put together by an unknown person paid by the record company. I do like some hip-hop, but I wanted to be the pure electronic thread. If you want, there can be a 'labled as' techno thread if you dont like it that much. When I think of electronic music, I think more f fast and energetic beats with very few vocals or faint vocals that blend with the song, not a voice overpowering the whole song. again, one trick pony by deadmau5 is a perfect example.

Ok, I think everyone's already heard of Deadmau5 and Daft Punk, so there's no need to mention how great they are.

Everyone needs to listen to Justice's album Cross, it's stunning electro-french-house with metal influences.

Also all of Nero's stuff - Guilt, Innocence, Promises, Me and You and Electron, especially - is all really good.

I'm not the biggest fan of techno, but I like Headhunterz, Showtek, and The Prodigy.

As for steaks, I like mine medium, not to bloody, not to cooked.

I listen to techno very rarely. But when I do it's something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUKrhOu6e28&feature=channel_video_title.
I like epic, dark and futuristic techno.

If you want to get technical, none of the stuff mentioned here is really Techno. Techno is a relatively small genre that grew out of House in the late 80's. Calling something like Daft Punk or Deadmau5 Techno would annoy a purist just as much as a Metal fan seeing Linkin Park and Nickelback labeled as Metal.
