Couldn't agree more. The original BOS are the Enclave without a genocidal agenda. They'd rather sit back, laugh, and watch the other factions kill each other off since the Chosen One crippled The Enclave in F02.

That the West Coast Brotherhood of Steel are paranoid elitists obssessed with hoarding all the useful tech and not putting any of it to good use? A few members claim they're just waiting for society to rebuild itself, but in practice, they tend to go to war with such societies, including the NCR. They could've saved the wasteland years ago if they really wanted to, but they're just too comfortable in their pre-war bunkers. The Lyons faction in Fallout 3 are the sole exception, but they're a million miles from New Vegas, so ehh...

Don't forget the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout: Tactics. They were the first BOSWC outcasts. Even though they weren't "canon", they did care more about rebuilding the Midwest than hoarding technology. Plus Elder Lyons came from the Midwest Faction, HTH else did he get from Chicago, through The Pitt, and eventually to D.C. in under 30 years?

At least some of Fallout: Tactics actually has to be canon, given as how either Casdin or Lyons (I think it was Lyons?) references a BoS detachment in Chicago that has "gone rogue".

And no, all of the D.C. Brotherhood came from the West Coast, as the whole conflict between the Outcasts and the Lyons BoS indicates. Even walking coast-to-coast could probably be done in a few years; the Brotherhood is a military organization in strength and endurance-enhancing power armor and as such would likely be able to make very good time with a forced march across the country.

I would be rather shocked too but would feel very satisfied with them being the bad guys for once.

I'd actually enjoy the West Coast BoS being somewhat villainous; we already have the "hero status" East Coast BoS firmly cemented as very, very good guys. Makes sense that the West Coast BoS would be bitter from their loss at the hands of the NCR.

I think it would be a brilliant finale if after you claim Hoover Dam for your faction, the BoS swoop in and claim it now that you've done the hard work sort of giving them the Enclave's role from FO3 where they only show up after James did the all the technical work.
