My theory is the original burned man is dead. The current burned man is an imposter. He uses the bandages as a convenient disguise. Discuss away.

I thought about this possibility before. When i read that the NCR Ranger snipers reported assassinating him multiple times and he lived. But that ofcoarse took place before he was burned, but it still got me thinking. How could Joshua Graham possibly survived all that punishment?

Possibility #1-- He's got balls of steel

Possibility #2-- Body doubles, or the current Burned Man isnt really Joshua Graham.

Possibility #3-- He is either an Android, or Cyborg.

*EDIT* Wanted to leave this out, but it could still be possible. The Burned Man that we see in Honest Hearts could really be Chance. Aside from their Blue eyes in common and their brutality, I have never actually seen Chance ingame nor have I Joshua Graham. Just stories of their supposed death from either people in denial or others who have since taken a dirt nap.
It may be improbably, and Chance might really be dead. But from the start of the game, I always wondered if he had really survived.

Possibility #4-- He's Chuck Norris In Disguise.

I think the two most likely answers are that he could be an android, or an imposter/double.

On the other hand, he could just be so badass that he's in Zion to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and he's all out of bubblegum.

Why on earth would anyone pretend to be Joshua Graham? Seems like the perfect way to catch a bullet in the face. He's not very popular, you know. NCR wants him dead, Legion wants him dead, and I bet the Mormon people in New Canaan aren't too happy with him either.

I would really be disappointed if he was any of the above; an imposter, a cyborg or an android. The man's just too badass to get killed by anyone wearing a red Legion skirt.

Well we are in the fallout world........were people in general seem to survive things that would decimate real men. the lonely wanderer from fallout 3 survived a heavily irradiated water treatment plant and had a portion of his brain cut out and he still managed to solve all of the capitol waistlands problems in less than a year. and our friend the Courier was shot in the head twice and stabbed in the chest and left to die in a shallow grave and was miraculously saved by a robot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7xME0aFbC4 AND was somehow revived by a random waistland doctor who by some miraculous coincidence can also do complex brain surgery, By those laws anything is possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the burned man could grant wishes and shoot laser beam's out his ass.

hmm yeah but there is a very good reason WHY you would impersonate the Burned Man. Legend. All of Caesar's slaves look up to the burned man, they tell stories of him around their campfires at night. If an actual Burned Man walked into town with a crate of guns and said "rise up and follow me", in all likelyhood the slaves would do it. So someone could be playing on that myth for precisely that reason.

Saying that, I think the Burned Man is the actual Burned Man. It's not so much the covered-in-pitch and set on fire that is improbable, freefall could put out the flames. but the fall from the grand canyon is almost certainly unsurvivable. Unless Old Toasty fell into a lake, that would solve the two problems.

Also we don't know the Burned Man's plan, it is possible he will use some kind of slave uprising to screw with Caesar. but he has no love for the legion or the slaves, hes just out for revenge. And the slaves don't look up to him in hope, they look at him in fear. As so do many others.

I dont get why making him an android would explain his legendary toughness. I mean, Harkness and Armitage died just as easily as any human.

Maybe it's his son impersonating him so he can get revenge on the legion for killing his father

Well there are the religious reasons. It would be a great way to unify the religious and superstitious tribes if one of their own was sacrificed/ died for the sins of man and rose from the grave...Now that the risen Burned Man is "resurrected" he could unify everyone against the Beast that is Caesars Legion.

True, however we dont know how resilient Harkness and Armitage were designed. If I remember correctly, atleast Harkness was supposed to be indistinguishable from an average man. So much so that he didnt even know he was an Android. If Joshua Graham was built with the skeletal structure of Enclave power armor then that would explain why Caesar went through the trouble of setting him on fire AND throwing him into the grand canyon. But remember your not gonna grab somebody set ablaze with your hands and throw him in. And youve gotta really throw somebody to make sure they fall a good distance in, and not land on the 'close' rockwall. So they probably launched him in with a trebuchet like device.

He could just be very lucky and survived the assasinations and bullet wounds. OR he has some kind of cybernetics that explains the bandages he still wears beacause of his metal arm is showing? But he`s more likely to be a freakin god :toughninja:

i'm going to solve that problem for the 1st recon batalion and kill him and i don't think he will comeout of that after i do
