When he awoke, he came to in a vault. Driver Nephi was standing over him, along with a doctor. The Courier was informed that the chronic drug use, alcohol abuse, lack of sleep and a bullet through the brain caused some severe side effects, such as hallucination. Confused, the Courier left Vault 3. He sought out Rose of Sharon Cassidy, a frequent companion of the Courier's. Asking her where the NCR went to after the Battle, she informed him the Mojave Wasteland had been conquered by the Enclave just after being shot in the head near Goodsprings. The Legion disbanded, and the NCR fled back west. The Strip was now the new capital of the Enclave. Cass informed the Courier that the Dam was actually an orphanage, filled with many children. The children, believed to be the enemy, were killed because war,
