The Vampire Lord looks... interesting...

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:14 am

I was a bit confused when he told us we got perks by feeding off of people... I was again wondering if that meant the perks reset each time you turn back.

On another note, the Vampire Lord both excited me and disappointed me. I was hoping to use any magic spell as a Vampire Lord, that's my only complaint. The pros were the melee combat and the summoning of a Gargoyle.

Thoughts?

Hm.. I'd also like to add that the bat avoid perk seemed quite nice.

The movement was quite weird, but I loved the ability to hover over water and I think the looks make them seem more threatening. :D

I love that you can pick people up and throw them around.

Yeah, the levitation spell looked very nice! I was hoping to be able to use normal spells in the Vampire Lord form though. I guess they could easily make up for that by allowing us to transform at will.

Seeing the vampire lord in town really made it stand out like a sore thumb somehow. It didn't seem to fit into the game at all. Maybe it's because the town was so familiar to me and the vampire lord (obviously) was not, I don't know, but it'll take some getting used to. Same goes for that purple horse.

I would remove the wings. I thought it kinda looked like the vampire equivilent of Dinosaur arms, as in, the T rex would look threatening, but because the arms are so tiny, I can't take it seriously. If the vampire lord had cooler, bigger, wings, I would like it more. Also, I wish the wings would rest untill you hover. I mean, why add legs if you just fly around everywhere.

Is it true you can only use vampire spells? Did not notice that detail if so.

I don't think it was said if you could or not, but considering he only used Vampire spells, I would believe so.

Hi theer rektoh! Good to see you!

i hate their look and movement.

Here I thought I was the only one. I love Skyrim's art direction, one of the best assets of the game, but apart from that Castle, everything looks plain awful. It's a vampiresque burlesque theme park, tacky, neon lighted like a summer fair.

I agree that the side to side and backwards movement looked a little off, but some of the animations are so smooth, all in all, extremely excited.

That could just be to show them off. The gameplay was for the new features so hopefully you can use old spells.

"So you can fight dragons...as a vampire."-Todd Howard when they "announced" vampires before Skyrim's release.

Looks like things just got real. Vampire lord vs legendary dragon? A fight for the ages.

That makes complete sense... Yep there is a giant dinosaur about to tear me to shreds, but it has tiny arms so clearly I will not take it seriously...

Did anyone catch if they said it was forced 3rd person? I know they showed it in 3rd so that we actually had something cool to look at, but I'm still a little nervous...

It may look silly, but you would still take anything seriously if it could kill you. On topic though I think the Vampire Lord looks cool, and it would svck if it had big wings because then we couldn't see past it if we are in third person view.

Hi there MetalGod!

I know it could kill me, but it just looks so silly.

Those flimsy bony wings, was the lead art director on vacation? There is also this strange disproportion between the two opposing factions: the Emo side gets new powers, shouts, perks, etc., and the Dawnguard get...a bow by a different name? Even if not all has been revealed, this asymmetric focus is puzzling.

Whatever, I'd rather get rid of the wings, or make them bigger. I was thinking, to hover, the wings would have one great swoop to pull you in the air, and then stay more or less still but in a position that doesn't interfere with the camera too much

Well, you don't NEED to hover. I saw in the video you can hover or walk.
